The VoiceOver Getting Started manual is 90 pages in length and organized into 9 chapters with an appendix containing all of the VoiceOver key commands. The chapters are intended to be read in sequence as each contains information that builds on the previous chapters. Chapters four through nine include several hands-on exercises you can use to build your skills.

Most screen readers, including VoiceOver, will enable you to listen to a synthesized voice speak the contents of the VoiceOver Getting Started manual using an application that can open PDF documents. On a Macintosh running Mac OS X version 10.4 Tiger, use the Preview application.

MP3 VoiceOver Getting Started Manual

The VoiceOver Getting Started manual is also available as an audio recording in MP3 format. You can download each chapter individually, or all of the chapters together as a single download, compressed as a zip file.

There are two links to each file: one for standard quality and the other for high quality. High quality recordings are recommended only for those with a high-speed connection to the Internet. Two short 40-second samples are provided so you can preview the quality and choose the one you prefer before downloading the rest of the audio recordings.

Once downloaded, listen to the files using any accessible audio application that can play MP3 audio. Currently, Apple recommends using the QuickTime Player application on a Macintosh running Mac OS X version 10.4 Tiger.
