I'm using it to control an air conditioner, so I can turn it on about an hour before I get home, so it'll be nice and cool. Additional security features would be an improvement ... anyone on the same SSID with the WeMo app can control any outlet on that network.

You can not set it up remotely. In case your iPhone App crashed (or else), you cannot set WeMo up remotely. No web access, telnet..etc. 2. You cannot have more than one locations and controlled by the same App on iPhone. 3. Tech support not good. I emailed the (first) question above, they simply direct me to online support web page, which is useless. I am returning my WeMo.

      Superb gadget

Let's clear up the UK 220V issue straight off. It IS 220V and works perfectly in the UK. Any mention of 110V is for the US plugs and is nothing to do with the UK plug. If you walk into an Apple Store and take a look at the bottom of the box it makes it quite clear that the plug is a 220V version. Unfortunately Apple are using the US photos which doesn't help the confusing but trust me, it's the UK plug and will work fine. Onto the device. It's a fairly bulky thing and very similar to the old plugs you'll have seen for turning your lights on and off when on holiday. Well this of course does exactly that but it works remotely so you can be switching your lights on and off from anywhere in the world. The other very useful feature is the ability to set times for the switch to come on and off and at set times including picking specific days. As you add more switches you just give them custom names and before you know it you've got home automation in the palm of your hands. This really is a great device that does exactly what it says on the tin.

      It simply doesn't work.

Is it really op I've had the exact same experience as so many on this thread. Belkin knows this product simply doesn't work, and yet they continue to market it. Is it really operator error on all of our parts? My four devices worked okay after I agonized though the setup process. By "worked okay" I mean there was about a fifty-fifty chance the app would recognize my devices without my having to do multiple refreshes. Now, two of the devices simply won't show up (after the latest firmware patch). I've been struggling with these for months. The product just doesn't work.

      Wemo - Never again

I bought a wemo and it worked about a month. Last time used, it would not turn off remotely and burnt up a small water pump to drain my basement when away. Then they started to give me nothing but problems, especially when there was a "firmware" update. After a year of on again off again (no pun intended) I took all my switches into the garage where I happily tossed them into my wood chipper. An immature move on my part, but it sure made me feel good! I promptly ordered 5 Timex brand digital switches for $7 dollars each. Plug em' in, set the on time, set the off time and voila! you're done. They even use a AAA battery in case of a power failure. I'm pretty tech savvy and tried everything with the WEMO stuff. Nothing and I mean NOTHING solved the problem for longer than a few days. I think these switches were invented by the Prince of Darkness! (yes folks, that was a pun and intended)
