The ADE Program
The Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) program is a relationship program focused on identifying and rewarding excellence and leadership in Australian education.
Apple Distinguished Educators are members of a select group of K-12 and Higher Education classroom and IT professionals who possess and share their expertise in educational technology with the wider teaching community. This group of over 600 educators spans the globe with membership in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Europe, Japan and Latin America.
ADE Program Objectives
- Recognise and reward educators, advisors and IT professionals who integrate technology into the curricula and their learning environments in meaningful ways.
- Enhance the professional development of these exemplary educators.
- Create a community of educators and IT professionals that will share experiences, projects and ideas with their peers.
- Continuously challenge both teachers and IT professionals to develop and share innovative ideas and the use of Apple technology in the classroom.
What does an ADE do?
Apple Distinguished Educators understand the importance of students as producers of content. They transform their school's classrooms with current Apple tools such as iLife, Production Suite, iPod and eLearning systems.
Apple Distinguished Educators are a diverse group with expertise in many different areas. As leaders in their respective fields, they are often highly visible in the educational community, winning awards for their projects and achievements, or have been officially recognised as an innovative teacher in their state or territory.
One thing they all share is a passion for the innovative use of technology in teaching. When new technologies are developed, these innovators are the first to make effective use of them in the classroom, academic discipline or technology infrastructure. As mentors, they influence other teachers and administrators by presenting their work at key conferences and events, leading hands-on workshops, and getting actively involved at the local, national and international level.
An ADE's Commitment
Apple Distinguished Educators dedicate a minimal amount of time over a two-year period sharing key learnings with other teachers and institutions via lesson plans, providing best practices in the advancement of education, and participating and organising regular events at which they demonstrate the latest Mac-based education solutions. These events range from short sessions of a few hours to full-day, on-site training events.
What are the benefits of becoming an ADE?
The ADE program offers amazing benefits to its participants.
The Right Tools - Every ADE receives a notebook, iPod, relevant accessories and the latest suite of software that provides a creative platform for teaching and learning for the duration of their involvement in the program.
360° Feedback - ADEs provide input to Apple and the teaching community on the realities of technology integration and usage in the classroom and in doing so, receive the benefit of their key learnings as well.
The Annual ADE Forum and Weekend Retreat - During their two-year term, ADEs enjoy an annual all-expenses paid getaway with their esteemed ADE peers and Apple representatives to network, share best practices and have a lot of fun.
