The Apple buy-in

Profiles in Success: Theodore Primary School

Theodore Primary School

For many schools, one of the challenges that emerges as the result of introducing new technology within the learning environment is providing teaching staff with the skills necessary to exploit the technology's potential. But for Theodore, this presented less of a challenge and more of an opportunity to establish closer ties with Apple.

The support we get from Apple is absolutely crucial to our success. We only have to contact our account manager with a request for professional development training and he arranges for an Apple iLife specialist to come out and work with our teachers. It's that level of support and buy-in from Apple that is one of the reasons we opted to go down the Apple path in the first place.

— Ms Lyn Woodbury, Principal, Theodore Primary School

When asked what she believes students at Theodore will be achieving with their Macs in the near future, Ms Woodbury replies: "To be quite honest, who knows? I do know, though, that if you'd told us this time last year our students would be making movies and podcasts, I wouldn't have believed you.

"That fact that we - and by that I mean teachers and students - have come so far in 12 months, shows us that there is an enormous amount of potential we can continue to explore for years to come."
