Apple Recycling Program Terms and Conditions

This offer requires the purchase of an Apple computer or Apple Cinema Display monitor. Purchase must be made directly with Apple on 133 MAC (622), online at the Apple Online Store or at one of the Apple Retail Stores at 367 George Street, Sydney NSW, Chatswood Chase, Chatswood NSW or Chadstone Shopping Centre, Chadstone VIC.

Follow these steps to recycle your old computer or monitor.

Step 1 - Buy a new Apple computer or Apple cinema display from Apple Telesales, the Apple Online Store or at one of the Apple Retail Stores at 367 George Street, Sydney NSW, Chatswood Chase, Chatswood NSW or Chadstone Shopping Centre, Chadstone VIC and register your request for recycling within 3 months of date of purchase.

Step 2 - An Apple recycling representative will contact you, confirm details of the products to be collected and schedule a date for pick-up of your equipment.

Step 3 - Your equipment will be collected and transported to Apple's authorised recycler for processing.

Product Eligibility for Recycling: Apple's recycling partner will accept computers, monitors and peripherals from any manufacturer, except products contaminated or suspected of being contaminated with chemicals, biological agents or other substances that are not integral to the original new equipment or otherwise associated with normal office or household environments. They will not accept hazardous waste. They will not accept batteries that are not an integral part of the system being recycled, UPS systems, CRTs that have been removed from their cases or CRTs that are cracked or broken.

Recycling Quantity: Customers are eligible to recycle one computer, one monitor and related peripheral computer equipment with each qualifying purchase transaction. Requests for recycling more than this allowance will be considered on a case-by-case basis, which you can indicate on the recycling registration form.

Apple's recycling partner will endeavour to complete all scheduled recycling pickups within one month of registration from Australian capital cities and major regional centres. In some remote locations, the environmental impact of vehicle emissions may outweigh the benefit of collection. In these instances Apple's recycling partner will keep your request on file and if other requests are received from customers in your area that will make a pick-up environmentally worthwhile, you will be contacted and a collection date scheduled. In some occurrences, recycling volumes may not be large enough to justify a recycling collection in which case no other service will be offered in lieu.

NOTICE REGARDING CUSTOMER DATA: Apple has no responsibility for loss or confidentiality of customer data on recycled equipment. Before providing equipment for recycling, the customer or institution should (a) back up or transfer any data prior to deletion; (b) delete data on the hard-disk drives and any other storage devices in the products; and (c) remove any removable media, such as diskettes, CDs or PC Cards.

Once the hardware has been collected, it cannot be returned to the customer. Participation in this program constitutes a relinquishment of all rights to and in the hardware and other computer materials sent for recycling.

Limitation of Liability: Apple has arranged these third-party services as an accommodation and accepts no liability to any person or institution for any services performed in connection with the recycling offered in these terms and specifically disclaims liability for lost profits, loss of business or other consequential, special, indirect or punitive damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

By requesting recycling services from Apple, you agree to Apple providing your details to a third-party to arrange for pick-up and recycling services.

Apple is not responsible for printing errors. Apple reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions, modify the offer, or end the offer at any time without notice.
