Nano running case is no good

I got this to run when I purchased my new nano. It hurts my arm, rubs to open skin. It is very difficult to use controls through the cover, impossible during run. I have tried this for a month now, I give up. It is a really bad product.

    Created by Non-Exercisers

The perfect armband--if you don't work out. I'm guessing that the people who created this go for sweet little walks where their songs perfectly match their workout and the volume is always perfectly equalized.

    1. When running, I can't change the volume by using the buttons on the side, which means I have to stop, push the activation button and change the volume through the too-thick plastic. If other people can do that while running, then you are fantastically coordinated. I, however, am not.

    2. I tried forwarding to another song, and the plastic made that control almost inoperable, as it just kept fast-forwarding through the song.

    3. I have small hands--like, a 4.5 ring size--and even I struggle with getting the iPod out of the case.

    4. For $30 and after years of armband technology, you'd think this company could have figured this stuff out by now. It's not like we're in 1999, and I need to access the wheel of my iPod 1. Come on.

Disaster - this will kill your ipod

Bought this with ipod 5 months ago - as the other reviewers say it is impossible to change the volume through the plastic. Worse still the design means that the earpiece socket sits right on your skin so impossible to stop sweat getting in - my ipod has corroded round the earpiece in just this short time and of course Apple refuse to honour their warranty even thought they recommend and sell this gym strap. Don't even think about buying one.

    Waste of money

This is utterly impractical. The pouch is such a tight fit that it is very difficult to get the iPod nano 7 in and virtually impossible to get out. The plastic screen is unresponsive and you can neither charge the iPod nor alter the volume when it is in the case. Waste of money.

    Runners beware--case absorbs sweat!

I purchased this armband with my new iPod (7th gen).
After several runs (including 3 over 20km) I found the following:

I found it very hard to see the screen and make any selections from the screen while running as the clear plastic/screen cover isn't very responsive, and it is a bad angle to view on one's upper arm.

The iPod must be removed from the case to charge it, and the iPod doesn't slide in or out easily.

Most significantly, the neoprene wicks sweat INTO the case. 20 minutes into a run, the iPod started making random changes (skipping tracks, pausing the workout etc) as sweat had started to bead up on the front of the screen, between the screen and the case and this moisture was sensed by the ipod as a selection. Granted, I was running in Miami, and it was hot and humid, but it wasn't raining. nThat night, my iPod flickered on and off while charging, as my sweat had seeped into the unit itself. Back to the apple store where they generously accepted the return of my arm band and then exchanged my dysfunctional iPod! I should mention that I also had an invisible shield on the iPod.

Hope this review helps other runners out there who don't want to kill their iPods in 20-30 minutes of running!

Was only able to use it a few months....the velcro started breaking apart from the neoprene material. Why doesnt Apple make its own Armstrap anymore is beyond me. I still have my white armbands for previous versions from SJobs...=)...

    awesome product!

What is everyone's problem, there is nothing wrong with this armband. I bought this armband with my 7th gen ipod and it does exactly what it should: keeps my ipod on my arm while I'm running. I have only one criticism with this armband though, I have little arms, so the armband fits my arms fine but I imagine someone with massive biceps or just big arms would find it hard to fit.

After the many evolutions of ipod nano, the 6th generation made the most sense. Since most people get the small unit for sports purpose, it's the well balanced product between having the size of the shuffle yet with the many advantages such as touch screen, bigger capacity, and radio. Quite disappointing they decide to switch back to the older size. I've been running with my 6th Gen and it's so convenient with the attached clips, now bought the newer one because my wife doesn't have one and when we run together only one of us can use the ipod. Really a hassle to use the arm band. Not to mention the additional cost of getting the ipod when i should've just used the iphone and get the arm band since it's the same concept. Apple should really re-think on going back to the 6th generation design. Amongst so many products, shuffle, classic, iphone etc, Nano seems to be undergoing the greatest change so far.

    Waste of Time

This thing is useless. Once the Nano is in the case it's hard to do anything with it. I can't see the screen. What are you supposed to do with the headphone cord? Just let it hang? Amazon has better choices.

    Don't buy this if you're a runner

The design is flawed. You can't adjust the volume or charge it while it's in the armband. The plastic front is thick and loose making it difficult to use the touch screen features.

    It's only glued together!

This product started to come apart after only two weeks use. The product is not designed to be regularly washed - which surely is something to be expected for something likely to be covered in sweat!

I have had the gen 1 nano this whole time and have been running with nike+ I own three cases for that nano all were functional. This case is not functional. You cant use the volume or the screen button or plug it on while still in the case. and if you are running with it and want to skip a song it takes like a min to get the screen lit again because you have no access to the button. poor design also while brand new strings were no trimmed from the stitching. I would avoid this void product

    Great Ipod sports armband!

I needed a good gym armband for the new ipod my wife gave to me on Christmas and this seemed to be the only kind available. While I agree with most customer reviews about how tight it is making it very difficult to get the ipod in and out of the sleeve, however the reality is that it gets much easier with time. I have been using mine almost daily for 3 months and it slips in and out quite easily now. I perspire quite a bit while working out at the gym so I just make it a habit to remove my ipod after most workouts in order to let the armband dry out properly. It's no big deal!

Adjusting the volume without taking it out of the sleeve can be easily done by touching the ipod button and screen. It works perfectly through the arm band window. Again, it's no big deal!

Lastly, as a sports armband it is awesome. Fastens very securely to any part of my arm. It does not move or come loose no matter how intense the workout.

For me this armband does exactly what it was designed and intended for. A great product!!

works great for what its designed to do

I bought an IPOD strictly for running and working out with music so obviously i needed an arm band too. It works great for what its designed to do! A lot of people are putting this product down because "Oh i cant charge it in the armband" or "i cant control it in the armband"??? First off its designed to be in use when in the armband not charging and second buy different head phones then! It is a tight fit but thats a good thing! That way it wont fall out when im running. To get it out of the case just peel the clear cover off the screen and it comes right out. It does let the sweat in though so make sure you pull out the nano after or let it dry some where where it wont stay wet for a long time it dries faster with nano out. Its comfortable and it works good for what i use it for!

    Really tough to use

No access to Lightning port, hard to get response through plastic cover, and difficult to get iPod in and out of case. I would avoid this one. The armband is comfortable, though.

    Agreed- useless!

I also bought this armband but it is useless. There is no slot to allow for syncing and it is totally impractical. After trying it once, I threw it away - complete waste of money.

    Pretty good case

This case is pretty good. It definitely holds the IPOD snug and won't go flying off. The down side to having to remove the IPOD to charge it is to get out your hobby knife, single edged razor blade or carpet knife and cut a rectangular hole opposite to the earphone plug. Take care cutting as the material is pretty tough and you don't want to cut through the front as well in your enthusiasm. Works great. Also, the volume can be controlled from the front so one doesn't really need to access the buttons on the side. You have to push harder than if it wasn't in the case but it does work.

    Too big to wear.

Bought this for my 11 yr old son, thinking it was fully adjustable. I wasted my money, as it's too loose for his arms. It's not even elasticated. Have to look for something else. This would be fine for an adult or teenager, but I think the part holding the nano should be thicker, or silicone (it's only a thin bit of fabric). Doesn't seem very protective.

    - Extremely difficult to take in and out
    - Cannot charge the nano when it is in the case.
    - Biggest of all, have no access to the volume buttons when it is the case

Overall very disappointed. I''d look elsewhere for a good armband for your new nano.
