Just an awful product, bad sound quality and broken after <6 months.

The sound quality is only slightly better than you get from the standard headphones, and that's only because the buds attenuate.
Massively overpriced, £65 for a pair that sound worse than a £20 set of Sennheisers.
Expect them to break in a short space of time! very poor build and cheap components. The left ear buzzed out after just 6 months of normal use, tried all the usual tricks to get it back but nope - damaged diaphragm.
Don't for one second believe these 5* reviews, it seriously must be an Indian "like/review" centre churning them out because I have no clue how someone could be so happy with these to give them a perfect score!

    Great...with different tips

I almost threw these away because they would not stay in my ears when working out, regardless of which size of the provided tips I used. Luckily, I found that others were having the same problem and heard about the Whoomp! foam tips from Comply. They're made specifically for these headphones. Problem solved! If you don't know what size you need, they offer a mix pack with S, M & L. After that you can order a 3-pack of your size only. Seriously, they made all the difference in the world.

    An awful dissapointment

These are not only the worst headphones I've ever purchased, but the worst purchase I've ever done. I'm usually very careful on choosing anything I'm buying, but the fact the EarPods were doing really good to my ears didn't make me think too much about getting the in-ears. Mind-blowing mistake. Why did I pick these instead of the budget Beats, it's haunting me. Worst of all? I bought from a retailer who will not accept any returns on Apple products. A serious retailer. So had I run with the same luck buying the Beats, at least I could take them back to the store.

Everything is awful on these. Flat, no bass terrible cheap sound quality. The tips won't stay in place. Do not buy at all. I won't trust Apple anymore.

Amazing sound with Comply foam tips!

If you get the foam tips made specifically for these earbuds by 'Comply' you will get great sound, clear bass response, noise isolation, and they will stay in your ears. I've been using the combo for years and wouldn't even think of trying any other earbuds. I'm THAT satisfied.

    A big upset from Apple!!!

I had recently bought the ear phones. The sound quality is not good and has shreikiness while playing music. Other issue was the phones kept coming out of ears , essentially does not fit properly.

The ear phones which are shipped with respective phones are much better than this.

I would suggest people to check in Apple Store , if available for testing before buying.

Not worth money it's being charged.

    These are terrible

There is no bass whatsoever. Complete waste of money.

In comparison, the sony ear phones I bought for £15 are 10x better

    DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

    Amazing!

I do not understand the negative reviews here. Being a 20+ years sound engineer, I enjoy these in ears very much and whenever I can. It might be that some users do not insert these correctly or something. If properly placed with the correct silicon fit any ear should find its snug size. Of course these are not custom fit "high end" phones (usually +$300), yet for this price a huge step above the Apple Earbuds in sound, comfort and isolation. One star had to be dropped for that awful triangular case squeezing the cables on the sides. Other than that I'd recommend them further.

    Terrible.

I was in a hurry and wanted some great headphones. Apple usually does a great job so I bought these without doing too much research. Huge mistake. My left earphone is popping so much that it feels like it is shocking me. Seriously. And yes, these do not stay in your ears. If and when they move around in your ear the already poor sound quality is affected, forcing you to move them around constantly to try and find the sweet spot in your ear.

I bought these 5 days ago. Will try and return these at the Apple Store ASAP.

    Really bad earphones

The classic earphones from Apple always pleased me, so I had high hopes to these in ear that cost around 2,5 times more.
I bought them at the Apple Store and returned them within 10min, the quality is truly awful. Tried the different sized earplugs, the free headphones you used to get on a plane beat these earphones (I thought I just had a broken pair, so I changed it for new ones, still the same!) . I was blown away by the extremely low quality even if they were 10€.. Apple, improve or get rid of this product it's pulling the brand down.. Never experienced such a disappointment from the brand.. you can't spend your money more badly then buying these things

    Try on all 3 sizes

Seriously the amount of negativity these headphones are getting is not fair. Please try all 3 ear tip sizes and give it some time to burn in after that you can judge the earphones. I must say to bass heads don't get these definitely not for you but for everyone else get these now the audio is wonderful and the build is great. In fact I used to be more on the bass side but have gotten used to these and love the warmth and extra detail I get out of these earphones. Proudly give 5 stars :)

    FIVE STARS FA SHO!

I have owned my apple headphones for over a year now. AND I USE THEM EVERY DAY ON THE REGULAR. I love love love them. Before I got my apple headphones I was constantly miserable with headphones that would always break or sound quality would be off in them various brands until I finally found these a year ago and they still work great! I can always turn to apple for engineering quality and I gotta say honestly they are THE BEST PAIR IVE EVER OWNED. Thank you Apple! I was shocked to find more people didn't give 5 stars on here.

Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice... It's a huge let down.

Although the In-ear headphones deliver exceptional sound quality, in the two experiences I have had with this same product the integrity of the wiring means the remote control functions become compromised within 6 months of normal usage. The weak point right next to the audio jack means that the threads inside the wire overlap and thus causes mixed signals. I now often have to listen to my music with constant interruptions from Siri because the wire isn't durable enough and it triggers my phone to believe I've pressed the remote to beckon Siris help when I haven't. I'm actually terribly disappointed in this product from Apple.

They fall out, and they break

I got this pair of earphones two weeks before, and they kept falling off. The sound quality wasn't as good as I expected it to be, and also, now it is BROKEN. The left ear phone kept falling apart, but the wires didn't break until today. This is also how I broke my old apple ear-phones. Too fragile. The sound quality wasn't quite as good as I expected it to be either. To anyone reading this, IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

    I just received them...

I put them on out of the box and I won't go into great detail except to say - quit reading reviews and pick you up a pair! I have had them on for about 3 to 4 hours exercising, working answering phone calls - going about my day. Sound is fantastic and comfortable enough I don't notice them. The sound is true and clean.
I have already recommended them to several associates!
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

These sound fantastic - Try foam tips!

The ear tips that ship with these headphones detract from what is otherwise, a really great sounding product.(I should have knocked off one star...Apple should ship these with optional foam tips for those that can't get along with the silicone ones!)
Initially, I could not get the silicone tips to seal properly and the phones sounded truly awful! Fortunately I had a pair of memory foam tips laying around from a previous set of headphones that fitted and the difference was stunning.
'Comply Whoomp' foam tips are advertised for use these headphones. The foam tips sound so much better than the silicone ones, I am sure there are other makes that will also fit. Buying new tips is adds to the initial cost but the difference in the sound is well worth it.
To sum up, if you can get the seal right on these phones they sound 1000% better. (Better than headphones that have cost me twice the price and have had 5 star reviews!)
Twin drivers; 5Hz to 21kHz, great balanced sound...bargain! (and I never thought I'd ever say that about a bit of Apple kit!)

Terrible sound quality. No Base. I tried everything.

I tried replacing the earbuds (recommended by some reviewers), but still no improvement.

    They stand up!

I bought a set of these earbuds a few years ago and went through all of the various size silicon earpieces. Now I need to buy a new set because there are none as good as these. They are pricey, so it would be nice if you could purchase simply replacement silicone buds, but then again, I did get a great deal of use out of them.
