I think my title sums it up....

I looked for weeks to find an equally good "looking" product and I could not. Eventually I decided to "bite the bullet" and spend what to me was ALOT of money on a wall bracket, when I can get one from my local TV/ Hifi store for 1/3 of the price. I figured, "hey its on the apple store, I know Apple products are really good so it must be too..."

Well I was disgusted- Firstly the image on the product description looks nothing like the product in reality. Its made to look like a beautiful billet aluminium bracket. Instead what arrives is a "tacky" looking cast item that is painted a dull grey. This looks nothing like the item featured.

I think I am more disappointed in Apple for letting these "sharks" sell an inferior product on the website.

    Not Happy!!!!

    Perfect solution to location issue.

This is a quality piece of kit, well engineered and built to last. I wanted to be able to mount my iMac on a wall, above a desk which itself is in front of a window. Yes, as the other review states, it does stick out from the wall a bit when folded back - but my issue - and why this is such a perfect solution - was to be able to swing the iMac in front of the window when I wanted to work - at a perfect height for my eyeline and above my workspace - and then be able to move it back out of the way when not required. Perfect. If all you want to do is stick your mac on a wall then there may well be cheaper options out there. But for what I wanted to do - this provides the perfect solution.

    Looks great

Awesome space saver and the mobility is great! My only complaint (and this is mostly my fault) is that I wish it was made a lot more obvious that I also had to purchase the VESA kit. I had no idea and there I was, mount on the wall, so excited and ready to put up my monitor and realized I needed the kit. Not available in store so just had to order that. Besides that though I am in love! Excellent product!

Having bought the Thunderbolt monitor to mount i thought best to but the mount sold in the store, seeing the price i thought it was more then usual but seemed to be a good fit for the monitor so i went ahead. Having received the product what the information lacks to inform is that the depth folded of 3inch is without a monitor attached once it is attached it sticks 7inches off the wall it is mounted on when folded. The only positive with the product is the ability to rotate to view Portrait or Landscape however, you can buy a slim bracket much the same with-out this feature for £20 and one with for as little as £40 which is what i have now done and the build quality matches this bracket but with the bonuses of being thinner and a lot cheaper.

Installation was pretty easy and looks like a solid product but found that in order to hold the weight of my iMAC in an upright position I had to tighten up the tilt so much that it then wasn't easy to adjust, certainly not one hand adjustment. After a few times moving around it loosened the tilt and my screen slipped forward.

Moving side to side was jerky and stiff, although I guess this may loosen up over time.

The description on the Bretford site doesn't match the application "The MobilePro Wall Mount lets you raise, lower and position your ... display exactly where you want it". It does allow you to raise or lower it but only at the time you fix the mount to the wall. This is not an ongoing option for adjustment.

Also "features a no-tension adjustment system" is not really the case. All joints are managed by using tension screws particularly the tilt mechanism which needs to be really tight to hold the weight. Most likely the tilt and swivel option would only be adjustable over time with the use of the provided tools to loosen and reset in place.

A lot better than people give it credit for!

So I've read the reviews that this mount is stiff and hard to move around....common sense guys, it comes with an allen key and all the hinges can be slightly loosened to your desired tension, mine moves easily and smoothly! You can even tilt the screen up or down which is nice. This way you can tighten it into a permanent position if you are not likely to move it around much, or you can keep it loose if you move it around a lot.

The wall mount is pretty heavy, especially with my 27" imac, so you would want to mount it on a stud in the wall, unless you want to attempt to use some heavy duty drywall plugs. You could mount it directly to drywall, my closet poles are mounted to dry wall with special plastic split studs and they hold super heavy winter coats just fine - I just didn't want to risk it with my mac! ha

The color is nice, matches well with the iMac and is just a little darker silver. I have light grey walls so it looks epic against it.

DONT FORGET TO GET THE VESA ADAPTER FOR IMAC!!!! else you won't be able to attach this wall mount to the back of your iMac.

super easy to install, super sturdy which makes you feel a lot safer having your expensive computer hanging from the wall! and it has some clips on the mount that you can clip the cord onto so it is not hanging from the computer but stays hidden.

It is pricey, but I wouldn't want to buy something cheap and flimsy and ruin my $3000 computer!!! To me it's worth the money. Plus, I'm always needing to move the computer around and im always nervous that i'm going to knock my iMac over so I actually feel safer with it mounted to the wall :)

Nice, but display is too far from the wall

Overall a pretty good product. No problems with installation and does the job for a 30" Cinema. But the minimum distance from the wall is about 6" (from back of the display). If I had know this before, I would have found some other wall mount.

    Not one touch positioning

Moving my 24" imac is a grinding process that is jerky and hardly one touch. I have tried to loosen the allen wrench nuts to get the right combination of tight enough to hold it up and loose enough to move freely and have not found a happy medium. Within 2 months it wont hold the iMac upright, any adjustment loosens it beyond usability.

As Stated In Another Review - Do not use the included screws!

I don't know why I read the previous post and still opted to use the included screws; one broke while being drilled into the wall stud. A quick trip to Ace Hardware fixed the problem!

My only other complaint is that it does not match the aluminum on the display; the arm is actually grey (steel), but oh well! Works like a charm!

I received the 2 Arms today that I ordered, could not wait to put them up so I would have my 2 30" Displays Wall Mounted. I started to put the first one up, I pre-drilled the holes into the studs. Using the scr-ews provided with the mounting arm. I tightened the scr-ews by hand into the wall, and one of the scr-ews snapped in half. So after I go to Lowes and get some scre-ws that are not made of some kind of che-ap & we-ak metal to cut costs of production; I will have to end up remounting higher or lower than originally planned, due to the fact I have the threaded end of the scr-ews stuck in my wall now. So do not Use the provided scr-ews, I would not want to have this happen to anyone else. Costing well over $100 for each one of the mounts, I would expect they could provide some nice heavy-duty scr-ews to mount with. I don't even want to think what would happen if I actually got to the point where my 30" Cinema HD's were mounted on them and then the scr-ews broke, that would have been quite costly.

    How Amazing!

The wall mount is just so wonderful. If you hook up your screen or Imac like I did it really brings it out.I put my 24inch up on my office wall and it was great. it was a breeze to put up( although I had a handy man put it up). It seemed very easy to put. Also the way you can change it to look like a picture a picture is outrageously wonderful. It was so totally worth the money.

Simple install took about 5 minutes to mount to the wall and hang the display. Preset tension on a few of the bolts was lighter than I would like but the supplied tool provided a quick easy adjustment. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to free up some desk space and get the most of their 30" cinema display.

Superb! I should have got one of these a long time ago.

This product really exceeded my expectations. A perfect compliment to the Apple 30" display. It looks like something from the Terminator movies.... But it is tucked away behind the behemoth and beautiful 30" Cinema Display. Works as advertised and a breeze to install. Don't hesitate to get one or 2! When I replace my old 22" Cinema Display with a shiny new Aluminum one, I will mount it to one of these. You can even rotate your display for a portrait orientation. Sweet!

    Does the job

This arm is well built and has a nice finish that complements my new 30" Cinema Display. The packaging was very well padded to protect the arm during shipment. The cable clips are very cheap, flimsy plastic and will fall off continuously due to the heavy weight of the monitor's cable. I have a similar arm sold by LaCie and it uses metal guides for the cable which work much better. I wound up using zip ties to keep the cable attached to the arm instead.

Please be aware that the instruction manual says that the arm is pre-tensioned and needs no adjustment. I had quite a scare when I mounted my display because the weight of the monitor made it flop down and almost hit the wall. It turns out the tilt adjustment was way too loose. Once tightened with the supplied allen wrench, it now stays in the desired tilt angle. However, I find that the rotate adjustment is still a bit loose and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to tighten this axis of movement.

    Great Product - Using w/ 24" iMac

Bought this and the VESA Adapter. Great product and when used with the wireless mouse/keyboard combo, it frees up the clutter of wires.

Installation took about 15 min but needed wife to hold up iMac to mount.

    Two insignificant problems:
    1) When moving the iMac, the wireclips sometimes knock each other off.
    2) The arm joints can scuff onto your wall. Solved this with those clear rubber nubs used for drawers/cabinets.

    Great Product

This was exactly what I needed to free up some desk space. I found instalation very straightforward, don't know why others had problems. Once installed I was very pleased with how easy it was to position.

Great Match for Apple Cinema Display, Not So Great Installation!

I encountered many problems during installation—at least two during every step. The wood stud screw was way too big for the wall, and we were forced to hammer it when it wouldn't go in anymore. The display doesn't stay up straight, so I had to buy Pratz screw driver to tighten, but in the end this was the prefect match for my Apple 23" Cinema Display. My recommendation: Hire a professional unless you have the correct tools.
