Song Code FAQ

If this information does not answer your question, please email us by clicking on the Email Us button at the bottom of page.

How do I enter my free song code.

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. Then, click the link below. We'll launch iTunes and take you to the right page to enter your free song code. Don't forget to choose your song before your code expires.

I entered my code. What do I do next?

Just choose the song you would like to buy and click the Buy button next to its name. iTunes will use your stored credit to pay for your songs before using your credit card on file. You can store your free song credits in iTunes until you use the codes or the codes expire, whichever comes first.

How can I tell how many credits I have left?

Your song credit summary appears next to your account name in the upper-right hand corner of the iTunes Store window when you are signed in. To sign in to your account, click the link below. We'll launch iTunes and take you to the correct screen to sign in to your account.

Is my credit summary up-to-date?

Your credit summary will update every time you sign in to your account. Click the link below to launch iTunes and sign in to your account now.

How do I know when my credits expire?

The expiration date for your free song codes typically appears in the terms and conditions for the promotion and the confirmation screen when you enter your code. Don't forget that you need to download your song before the expiration date, not just enter your code.

I get an "invalid" error when I enter my free song code.

Please read your code carefully. The following letters and numbers can look very similar:

  • The letter A and the letter H
  • The letter B and the number 8
  • The letter D and the number 0
  • The letter E and the number 3
  • The letter G and the number 6
  • The letter H and the letter W
  • The letter J and the number 1
  • The letter M and the letter N
  • The letter O and the number 0
  • The letter P and the letter F
  • The letter Q and the letter O
  • The letter Q and the number 0
  • The letter S and the number 5
  • The letter S and the number 8
  • The letter V and the letter U
  • The letter Z and the number 2

I get an error that says my code was already used.

If you created a new account at the same time as entering your code, iTunes will automatically enter the code for you after your account is created. For more information see iTunes Store: How to redeem a free song credit. If you never entered the code into iTunes, please check with the promotion's sponsor.

My free credits disappeared.

All free song credits have an expiration date, which can be found in the promotion terms and conditions and in the confirmation screen displayed when the free song code was entered. The credits field next to your account name is updated every time you sign in to view your Account Information. If you haven't signed in to your Account Information in some time, the credit field may show expired credits.
