Apple Certified Technical Co-ordinator (ACTC) Certification

Apple Certified Technical Co-ordinator (ACTC) certification verifies a foundation in Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server core functionality and an ability to configure key services and perform basic troubleshooting of the essential Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server capabilities. The currently required exams are based on Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server v10.4.

Who Should Seek ACTC Certification?

The ACTC certification is intended for Mac OS X technical co-ordinators and entry-level system administrators tasked with maintaining a modest network of computers using Mac OS X Server. Since the ACTC certification addresses both the support of Mac OS X clients and the core functionality and use of Mac OS X Server, the learning curve is correspondingly longer and more intensive than that for the Apple Certified Help Desk Specialist (ACHDS) certification, which addresses solely Mac OS X client support.

This certification is not intended for high-end systems administrators or engineers, but may be an excellent step to take on an intended career path to system administration.

Requirements

Candidates for ACTC certification are required to pass two exams:

  • Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.4 Exam (9L0-401) -- $150USD
Covers a practical knowledge of the core functionality of Mac OS X 10.4 and the basics of managing Mac OS X client systems running Mac OS X version 10.4. The recommended preparatory course for this exam is the Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.4 course. For specific exam objectives, see the Skills Assessment Guide for the Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.4 Exam. For an example of exam question types, see the Sample Test.

NOTE: Candidates earn the Apple Certified Help Desk Specialist (ACHDS) 10.4 certification upon successful completion of the exam above. To earn ACTC 10.4 certification, you must also pass the next exam listed below.

  • Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.4 Exam (9L0-507) -- $150USD
Covers a practical knowledge of the features of Mac OS X Server 10.4. The recommended preparatory course for this exam is the Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.4 course. For specific exam objectives, see the Skills Assessment Guide for the Mac OS X Server Essentials v10.4 Exam. For an example of exam question types, see the Sample Test.

The ACTC 10.4 certification is granted upon successful completion of both exams listed above.

NOTE: ACTC certification is valid for a specific version of Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server. Apple Training updates certification exams for major Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server revisions and posts notification on training.apple.com/certification/.
