What is MacIS?

MacIS is an independent non-profit organization of large and medium-sized enterprises which use Apple Macintosh computers as an essential part of their IT strategy, and therefore have a considerable number of Macintosh computers in service.

History of MacIS

MacIS US was founded in 1989, and has about 350 active members in the USA. MacIS Europe (300 members) and MacIS Belgium were both founded in 1991.
MacIS Belgium has about 60 members. These represent enterprises from a very wide range of industrial sectors, companies and higher education institutions.

The mission of MacIS Europe

"MacIS is an association helping management maximise their investment in Apple Computer based solutions."

This mission is put into practice by:

• providing information: members' meetings in Belgium, a European conference, mailings of Apple and third party products, white papers from Apple, MacISsues (the MacIS Europe magazine), and comparative studies commissioned by MacIS Belgium
• networking: establishing formal and informal contacts with other Apple users through national and European meetings, SIGs (special interest groups) and contacts with Apple representatives
• influence: Apple Top Ten list, third party Top Ten (cf. Microsoft Top Ten), other informal contacts with Apple Inc.
• discounts: special offers from Apple and third parties
• other MacIS member benefits

Why become a member of MacIS Belgium?

MacIS Belgium organizes members' meetings four times a year. At these meetings, members can discover new products and technologies, and find out through case studies how colleagues implement solutions in their companies. Apple and third party suppliers communicate their strategic options for the future. Members can make contact with each other and also with other IT professionals.

How to become a member of MacIS Belgium?

The basic requirement for membership is that the company must own at least 50 to 100 Macintosh computers, which must form an essential part of the IT strategy of the business. Companies with a smaller number of Macintosh computers can join subject to recommendation by another MacIS member. The membership administration of MacIS Belgium is carried out by the headquarters of MacIS Europe in Great Britain. All other contacts with MacIS take place through the board of MacIS Belgium. The annual membership fee is 300 for one representative, rising to 950 for five representatives from the same company.
A maximum of three persons from a single company can attend MacIS Belgium meetings, even if only one person in that company is a member of MacIS Europe.
