DVD Studio Pro 4. Professional Authoring Tools.

The intuitive authoring environment in DVD Studio Pro 4 makes it easy to develop everything from simple DVDs to sophisticated commercial titles. Create a unique experience for your audience by using advanced features to define navigation and playback behaviors.

Advanced track editing

Use the timeline-based Track Editor to shape your DVD project. You can include tracks for video, audio, and subtitles. DVD Studio Pro 4 supports the maximum DVD specification of up to nine video angles, eight audio streams and 32 subtitle streams for each track.

Track Editing

The Track Editor lets you trim the start and end times for each asset as well as merge multiple video or audio assets in a single track. Easily add, move and rename chapter markers, including markers originally set in Final Cut Pro; add subtitles with the integrated Subtitle Editor; and add closed captions (Line 21) for the hearing impaired. Use a subtitle track to create buttons over video; these buttons allow the user to make navigation selections while video content is playing, without having to go to a menu.

Extensive audio support

Dolby Digital Pro Encoder

DVD Studio Pro 4 supports PCM audio at 48kHz and 96kHz. Or you can work with cinematic surround sound using Dolby Digital 2.0 or 5.1 or DTS 6.1 formats. Preview any audio source, including surround sound, right in DVD Studio Pro.

You can now use Soundtrack Pro STAP files without conversion. If you need to make changes to a STAP file, open Soundtrack Pro from the DVD Studio Pro interface. When you save your project in Soundtrack Pro, the updated audio project instantly appears in your DVD Studio Pro project.

Multiple playlists

Use the Story feature to create multiple versions, or playlists, of your content without duplicating media assets. For example, you can create a DVD of a full-length movie and include a playlist that shows only scenes of a certain type. You can define up to 98 versions of your DVD project using the same source tracks and content. Create playlists that include, exclude or re-order specific chapters or content.

Playlists

Interactive DVD authoring

DVD Studio Pro 4 supports a wide range of advanced features for authoring interactive DVD titles. Use point-and-click scripting menus to create interactive games and quizzes, options for random playback, and conditional playback settings based on variables such as the type of DVD player. GPRM partitioning flexibly allocates up to seven of the eight memory registers, allowing you to use up to 112 partitions for your scripts.

VTS Editor

You can use the VTS Editor to create up to 99 Video Title Set (VTS) blocks and allocate assets across multiple blocks. This VTS allocation method removes space restrictions that could limit the creativity of your project and allows you to optimise playback of your DVD by organising your disc content to minimise search times.

Other advanced authoring features

Other Authoring Features

Advanced authoring features support player behaviors used in commercial titles. DVD Studio Pro lets you selectively disable player operations during “must see” sections like the Government warning. You can also control whether specific menus, tracks or stories will appear based on player setup. Remote control settings let you program specific keys to call up certain locations on the disc.

You can also create DVDs that combine video content and data for use on a computer. Create discs that include electronic documents — such as marketing materials or lesson plans — and even software tools. Assign links to menus, tracks and markers to open an application, such as a web browser, on a computer.
