I'm getting a ".Mac Sync Client is out of date" error
- .Mac Syncing requires Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later. Use Software Update to update to the Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later.
Can I still sync my data with a computer with Mac OS X 10.3?
- Effective October 19th, 2007, Apple has updated the system requirements for .Mac Syncing. Syncing data with .Mac now requires Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later. Earlier versions of Mac OS X may still be able to sync with .Mac, but are no longer supported, and will eventually no longer successfully sync. More information is available here.
How do I set up .Mac Sync?
- .Mac Sync can be set up using System Preferences in Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later, and will allow you to sync contacts, bookmarks, calendars, mail settings and accounts, and keychains between multiple computers with Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later. .Mac Sync will also allow you to sync bookmarks and contacts between your computer and .Mac Bookmarks and .Mac Address Book. Video tutorials on how to set up syncing are available in the .Mac Learning Center.
I can't sync my Mac OS X Address Book contacts with my .Mac Address Book
- Make sure that your Mac OS X Address Book entries do not contain custom fields, as those fields will not be displayed in .Mac Address Book. Check that you have turned on syncing in .Mac Address Book.
I can't sync data between two or more computers
- Make sure that you are using the latest available software by running Software Update and installing all available Mac OS X updates. If you are receiving an error message when syncing, see our common syncing error page for a solution.
My Mail messages are not syncing
- While .Mac Syncing will sync your Mac OS X Mail account settings and can sync your rules, signatures, and smart mailboxes, messages themselves are not synced. You can keep your messages in sync between multiple computers using IMAP.
When I try to sync keychains, I'm asked for the password for another computer
- When you initially sync a keychain to .Mac, that data is encrypted for your protection using the keychain password for the computer from which the initial sync was performed. When you sync keychains from another computer, you will initially need to enter that password to decrypt the keychain. If you don't remember that password, it can be reset.
I can't sync my calendar
- For information on calendar syncing, see Sharing Calendars.
Where can I get help with Address Book Sharing?
- Using Address Book Sharing, you can share your contacts with other .Mac members. If you've set up Address Book sharing, but it's not working as expected, try the steps outlined here.
