QuarkXPress:
How to create a virtual color proof
- Choose the menu File>Get Picture
- Choose the image you want to convert and click on image (whatever profile is assigned is fine at this stage)
- Select File>Export>Layout to PDF>Options, click Profiles
- Within Profiles, go to Composite pull down menu and click on your output device profile
- Click Okay
- Save the file with a new name and send to your client for review.
Before you send the virtual proof to your client, you may want to verify that your image or document has the proper profile embedded. To do this, you can use the Preview application located in your Applications folder.
- Open the image in Preview and select the Get Info command from the Tools menu.
- Check Embedded ICC Profile in the Document Info window.
Now, you can send the tagged image to your client. If you and your client have properly calibrated and profiled your displays, then everyone can review an accurate soft proof of the final output. Sharing soft proofs can dramatically reduce the time and cost of color proofing cycles.
