A compatible version of the MPEG-2 Playback Component is required for use with QuickTime 6.5 on Mac OS X. If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Store online or received it with Final Cut Pro 4 or DVD Studio Pro 2, you are eligible to receive the new version for free. Based upon how you received your copy of the MPEG-2 Playback Component, please follow the appropriate directions below to receive the updated software.
Apple Store Customers
If you purchased your MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Store, follow these instructions to download the update:
- Visit the Apple Store.
- Click Your Account in the store menu bar at the top of the page.
- After entering your Apple ID and password, click Software Download Purchases where you will see a link to the QuickTime 6 MPEG-2 Playback Component.
- Click the link to download and install the version labeled 6.5.
If you are not in the United States, choose your countrys Apple Store from the drop down menu at the bottom of the page.
Final Cut Pro 4 and DVD Studio Pro 2 Users
If you received your MPEG-2 Playback Component as part of Final Cut Pro 4 or DVD Studio Pro 2, you can download the update with your Final Cut Pro 4 or DVD Studio Pro 2 serial number. Download Update.
