Black Logic is a New York City-based full-service production and post-production facility. Black Logic continues to use Shake compositing software for various types of jobs from broadcast to film. One of the companies projects was a one minute completely CGI sequence for the Radio City Music Halls, Christmas Spectacular. The film sequence pictures the Man in the Moon which rises up from behind the clouds and interacts with the audience and the Rockettes.
According to Gavin Guerra, senior animator at Black Logic, Shake was the sole compositing software used in this project, and was used in various ways. The project was done in 2KCinemascope, and projected onto a 70-foot screen behind the performers. The 3D images were modeled and posed using software from Nichimen and animated using software from Softimage. |
All of the image layers were comped in Shake. All of the translations on the Moon were animated in Shake. And, all of the animating glows on the moon were achieved in Shake. The shooting and twinkling stars were done with Shake as well, said Guerra. Shake was also key in achieving the soft look required of the Moon, so as to make him appear more friendly, and less CG-like.
The ability of Shake to handle any resolution, made converting low resolution tests to finals a very simple task, he added. |
