Switching to Entourage 2004
Basic steps and resources to bringing your business communication data to your Mac
Email, contacts and calendaring are critical for most small businesses. Tasks such as connecting your Mac to your Exchange Server and moving information to applications such as Entourage can seem overwhelming at first. This month’s tip is designed to help your business get the right guidance and tools necessary to move your email, contacts and other information over to your Mac, fast and worry-free.
This tip covers some of the most widely-utilized products for email, contacts and calendaring on Windows and Mac OS X, including Outlook, Outlook Express, Exchange Server, Entourage 2004 and Outlook 2001. For information on other products and other versions of software not covered here, please check documentation on those products or contact the developers of those products directly.
Get to Know Your Software
Your first step should be to understand how your business computer is set up to handle services such as email. Before starting, you’ll need to know the answers to the following questions:
- What software are you using to handle email, contacts and calendaring? What software are you planning to use on the Mac?
- Does your business use an Exchange Server? If so, what are your account settings (such as username, password, domain name, incoming mail server, etc)?
- Does your business use an outside service provider to host your email? If so, what are your account settings (such as username, password, POP or IMAP account, incoming mail server, etc)?
