Apple Debuts Three New Studio Displays
New Displays Deliver Outstanding Image Quality and Complement Stunning Industrial Design of Power Macintosh G3 Line
MACWORLD EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO - Jan. 5, 1999 - Apple Computer, Inc. today unveiled three new Apple Studio Displays that deliver outstanding image quality and complement the striking design of the new Power Macintosh® G3 line. The new Apple Studio Displays include a 21-inch colour-accurate Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) display for publishing professionals; a crisp 17-inch CRT display designed for a wide range of applications; and, a new version of its award-winning 15-inch flat-panel active matrix Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).

The Apple Studio Display with ColorSync - This 21-inch display (19.8-inch
viewable image size) is the ultimate display for publishing
professionals, offering unparalleled Trinitron CRT performance.
Complementing its stunning outward appearance, the display offers
flicker-free viewing, ultra-fine resolution (1600 x 1200 at 85Hz), a
four-port USB hub and a unique tilt-and-swivel stand that allows you to
slide a keyboard underneath for extra desktop space. It features lifetime
colour calibration using ColorSync® technology, Apple's industry-standard
software for managing colour on computer monitors, scanners and printers,
and it provides intuitive push button access to software controls for all
screen adjustments.
The Apple Studio Display - This aggressively-priced 17-inch display (16-inch viewable image size) combines stylish design with a high performance DiamondTron CRT. The display offers a super-fine 0.25mm aperture grille pitch, support for multiple resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 at 60Hz, and an anti-reflective screen coating. Multi-lingual on-screen display controls are provided and the display's tilt-and-swivel stand allows for easy keyboard storage.
The Apple Studio Display, 15-inch flat-panel - This award-winning display offers spectacular performance through thin film transistor active-matrix LCD technology. The display is extremely bright and sharp, with an incredible contrast ratio that eliminates distortion and provides flicker-free images. Apple designed the display to offer smart scaling for support of multiple resolutions, a wide viewing angle and video input. It includes a tilt-and-swivel and height adjustable base for optimal viewing comfort, and offers a space-saving small foot print that can be further reduced with the alternate Picture Frame stand.
Pricing and Availability
The Apple Studio Display line is compliant with TCO95 and Energy Star
standards and is available immediately worldwide through Apple Authorized
Resellers. The 21-inch Apple Studio Display with ColorSync has an
estimated retail price of CDN $2,309; the 17-inch Apple Studio Display
has an estimated retail price of CDN $769; and, the 15-inch flat panel
Apple Studio Display brings down the price of an Apple flat panel to a
new low estimated retail price of CDN $1,699.
