At $79 I expected it to be a gorgeous leather and very functional, but it's not. It really does not feel like leather at all, and I just have not been able to prop the iPad up on a table with the case, the way that I expected I could.. I am thinking about returning it for a refund. …

Great case; really adds to the iPad Air

I immediately decided to get it. I have prior experience with the Smart Case for a previous iPad (3) and didn't like it because the lip at the top seemed wide, clunky, and bulky. It could be that the new smaller form factor of the iPad Air allows it's Smart Case to be more pleasing. The top lip is narrow (like the bezel) and you hardly notice it. For my previous iPad I had both the Smart Case and a Smart Cover which I used in combination with a Belkin Snap Shield Secure. The Belkin case is a low profile shell (for the back) that was designed to accept the Smart Cover. I bring this up because it was my intention to use both setups and alternate them but since I disliked the older Smart Case so much I ended up never using it. For this new Smart Case, this is the only case I intend to get as I really like it. It's pricey as leather is the only choice, but if I had gotten the less expensive Smart Cover, I would have gotten an additional shell for the back so there would be extra cost there. I don't mind paying a little extra for a good solution like this. …

They look good and fit snugly for a few mon My leather iPad smart case and my wife's iPad mini smart case are not durable at all. They look good and fit snugly for a few months and then begin to deteriorate. I'm on my second case. The first one split open at the seams after a year and shortly after that would let the iPad pop out because it was no longer snug. The 2nd case is barely 6 months old and already starting to show signs of wear and not holding the iPad firmly. Likewise my wife's mini case at under a year old is beginning to get loose around the iPad and is showing signs of extreme wear. These aren't cheap accessories. Do yourself a favor and buy a less expensive off brand case. Even if you get only a year out of it, you're further ahead by ending much less money on it.
By contrast we still have an older 1st gen iPad that the kids use with an apple case. That case is of much better quality than the newer ones. It's still sturdy and blemish free after 4 years and shows no appreciable signs of wear. …

Up to snuff
This case has served my iPad mini well for 2 years. Outside buttons work well. Develops a nice patina. Good to touch.
