    Unreliable, avoid

Bought the speaker two years ago. Looked and worked fine the first six months and then the bluetooth went kaput. Had it fixed under warranty and a year later it died again now out of warranty. Avoid this product at all cost!

    Not worth buying

This speaker worked great for about a year. And all of a sudden, it stopped working and just gave a clicking sound. After researching, and me taking the speaker apart, it was the motherboard that gave out. Too expensive to replace so not worth the money to fix. Invest your money elsewhere.

So close, but yet so far

The BEST sounding speaker for the money. After about a month however, it has become very unreliable and never works longer than 20 minutes. It either will not maintain connection or becomes poppy/hissy for ten minutes before it stops working. Very disappointing.

    Great...while it lasts... FAIL

I received the white Stanmore Marshall for Xmas 2014, and it worked amazingly well via cord and bluetooth for just over a year, when all of a sudden it went kaput. Even with a device connected via the aux cord, & the volume turned up all the way, if you put your ear up to the unit you could hear just the faintest amount of sound. I took it to a really well-known speaker repair shop where I was told that the tech could probably rewire it to be connected to a receiver system, because the actual parts were good, but probably some chip in the system had fried. He said that rewiring repair would cost about $100. Now I don't utilize any sort of receiver system nor did I want to spend $100 on a repair for a speaker I then still could not use, so it's been sitting in a bag collecting dust. Wondering what everyone else did with their fried units. Expensive paperweight? -_-

TL;DR Don't buy it! Save your money for a SONOS perhaps. This is a $400 brick.

    DO NOT BUY

    Very disappointed,
Looked good, sounded good, but quit after under a year (will not power on).
    Please read rest of reviews.
This is my first Marshall product, are they all this poorly built?

Sounds good, but stopped working in a year

I bought this speaker because its sounds good and looks even better. I should have read the reviews before I whipped out my credit card. I had it a used it sparingly for about a year before it stopped working. I wasn't even using it one evening when I hear a couple of loud popping sounds. Now it won't power on. $400 is a lot of money to spend on something that doesn't last. I hope Apple will step in and help. I smell a class action lawsuit coming.

Speaker stops working after a year

Out of the box this unit will seduce you. The sound is good. The retro design gorgeous. However after a year and half of light to moderate mid volume use the speaker has stopped working completely. Doing further research, this seems to be a common issue with the Marshall Stanmore that remains unresolved. I cannot recommend this product. It is not built to be a last. Avoid at all costs.

    DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

I have never reviewed a product ever, but buying a $400+ speaker that only worked for a year is too frustrating. DO NOT WASTE your money, if I could give it less than one star I would.

    worst product ever

I bought this speaker a year ago, it worked great at the beginning. It broke down within 3 months. I still loved it so I exchanged it due to its good performance. However, its bluetooth has connection problems after a year. I am thinking if I should return it or discard it?

    ANNOYING PRODUCT. DON'T BUY IT

Yes, looks good and sounds great. But, after a few months it stop working. I had two replacements in a year and both fails. This is the worst product ever made. Period.

GOOD, UNTIL IT STOPPED WORKING AFTER 9 MONTHS!

Great sound, great looks & then...stops working!

Tolerated the annoying having to turn off & on to re-pair with my iphone (having to wait a minute for the power light to go off in order to reconnect) - had to also unplug & plug in the lead to connect that way when I got tired of the bluetooth issues.

Given the price & only being 9 months old, this is not on!

Lets see how they perform on the warranty claim.

Back to my very trusty Bose sound dock!

    Faulty Bluetooth

I've had the speaker for just a bit over a year, and the Bluetooth just stopped working completely. I live in Australia, and bought the speaker from the US. Cost me $500 and now it's stuffed. It looks and sounds great, but don't waste your hard earned money on something that is not going to last. It's obvious that there are major problems with this speaker from all the reviews I've read. Anyway DO NOT BUY THIS SPEAKER!!!! I'm so @%#king p@#%ed off about it still. Marshall, your a bunch of theives.

What Happened?? 3 Months and Then No Sound

I had this speaker for less than three months. For a stand-alone blue tooth speaker, I was in love with its sound and its vintage look. But the blue tooth connection was spotty and regularly had to restart the speaker to finally sync. Recently it just died. My computer says it is synced but no sound comes out. None. I was going to pursue getting it replaced by Marshall as I've now missed the return window, but based on the thread below it doesn't seem like that's going to get me anywhere either. Apple, please encourage Marshall to fix this issue - especially for the price being charged.

    Please do not buy

Although I absolutely loved this speaker for a full year, and used it weekly. We had no issues with it except for some odd pairing issues on the Bluetooth, but we chalked that up to it somehow liking to pair with a dominant device so if that device was nearby and it's Bluetooth capability was turned on, you had a hard time pairing anything else to the speaker. Like many others it has now stopped working entirely. It won't output sound from either the Bluetooth functionality nor via a direct cable input. It is really disappointing to invest so much money into something that doesn't even last in the short-term. Currently i'm in contact with Zound Industries to determine what can be done to fix it. Based on the reviews I'm guessing this is a frequent problem. Apple should consider no longer carrying this product given the numerous issues people are having with it. I would not recommend purchasing this speaker.

    So sad my Stanmore died!!!

Apple should not carry this speaker. I had mine for a year and it just died. Bluetooth or plugged in just doesn't work. Apple says I have to contact Marshall directly and from the looks of this thread I am not going to have much luck. For $500 I am done buying Marshall products. So sad :(

    Garbage!

Worked for literally a couple of days. While it sounded good it didn't get as loud as you'd expect.

    Then... THE BLUETOOTH STOPPED WORKING.

As reported in a dozen reviews. Won't pair. Mac just says "can't pair with the device".

And you now have a really pretty box that makes no sound.

Don't waste your money. Mine was a gift and it feels so odd to throw it away. But it is useless.

    Amazing sound and looks BUT...

As the title, it does sound amazing and it does look great. The finish is extremely good and again, looks incredible. The problem is as experienced by many owners, the speaker dies after only a couple months. No sound from any input. DEAD. I can understand electronics breaking but then you have to deal with their customer support. TERRIBLE. In this day and age they do not even have a proper twitter account. They are simply not responsive.
To top it off, if you are in Canada you are in for a treat. They have NO REPAIR FACILITY ANYWHERE in Canada so you have to ship it to Syracuse. Another hassle to the list. Get a Bose. Does not look as good but it just works and they do have decent after sales support.
