So close, but yet so far

The BEST sounding speaker for the money. After about a month however, it has become very unreliable and never works longer than 20 minutes. It either will not maintain connection or becomes poppy/hissy for ten minutes before it stops working. Very disappointing.

    Great...while it lasts... FAIL

I received the white Stanmore Marshall for Xmas 2014, and it worked amazingly well via cord and bluetooth for just over a year, when all of a sudden it went kaput. Even with a device connected via the aux cord, & the volume turned up all the way, if you put your ear up to the unit you could hear just the faintest amount of sound. I took it to a really well-known speaker repair shop where I was told that the tech could probably rewire it to be connected to a receiver system, because the actual parts were good, but probably some chip in the system had fried. He said that rewiring repair would cost about $100. Now I don't utilize any sort of receiver system nor did I want to spend $100 on a repair for a speaker I then still could not use, so it's been sitting in a bag collecting dust. Wondering what everyone else did with their fried units. Expensive paperweight? -_-

TL;DR Don't buy it! Save your money for a SONOS perhaps. This is a $400 brick.

    Phenomenal Sound

Surprised and very impressed with this speaker. Blows away my cheaper KRK studio monitors. The bass is immense and clarity across the range overall is excellent and adjustable. Wish it came with a mid tuner, but not a deal breaker. Put this speaker on a bed and turn it up, better yet hook it up to your vinyl collection. I'm interested in buying another one to link them together.

Solution for Marshall Bluetooth not working

I followed the review of the person that advised:
In Bluetooth settings click on the Marshall device and 'forget this device'
Turn on Marshall and have the Bluetooth search
Click on the re-paired device which will likely be the same device word

This should be put in the instructions because I spent half a day going to Best Buy and they couldn't figure it out.

    Quality? Top notch. Features? Meh

Unlike many here, I find the stanmore speaker sounds beautiful. I can host parties at my college house of 30-40 people and it is stellar. Yea you can't turn bass on full and blast A Milli but I mean for a speaker of its size I understand. The only problem I have with it is that my mac laptop can't connect to it via bluetooth anymore. (iPad and iPhone still work)

I could never dream of this feeling... until now!

Bought the Stanmore as a result of buying a 40" kitchen TV with a paper loudspeaker. Returning to add some zest to my disappointment, I suddenly put my eyes to to the Marshall collection of boxes that I didn't know the existence. WOW! Good looks, so home it went with a Stanmore. My TV changed to an unknown level since the 60', 70',80',90',00',10' and I love it. Then I discovered all my Itunes played wonderfully with a rich Bass on low levels, making me pass all my time in the kitchen. So I got a problem returning to my saloon for the tumbler and avec. Until I discovered the Woburn (in the kitchen) and it blew my mind. Never I had this feeling with this range of speaker, (thought I would only buy Bowers & Wilkins, and later on Martin&Logan Electrostatics). Then I discovered the RCA connection on the back of my purchase. WOW. I could connect a turntable, and that seemed the only thing Marshall wanted me to do. With that beautiful rich sound I ended out with a Clear Audio Wood, (ultra hipster) turntable. 300 or more of my LP's came back to life, including the Stones pressed in Kingston etc., and a new vinyl supply including Amara Touré on Analog Africa, The Congos, Nobody beats Concrete Jungle and Marley on vinyl. Life is just amazing, live it! Pardon mon norvegien... Dag

    Very disappointed,
Looked good, sounded good, but quit after under a year (will not power on).
    Please read rest of reviews.
This is my first Marshall product, are they all this poorly built?

Sounds good, but stopped working in a year

I bought this speaker because its sounds good and looks even better. I should have read the reviews before I whipped out my credit card. I had it a used it sparingly for about a year before it stopped working. I wasn't even using it one evening when I hear a couple of loud popping sounds. Now it won't power on. $400 is a lot of money to spend on something that doesn't last. I hope Apple will step in and help. I smell a class action lawsuit coming.

Speaker stops working after a year

Out of the box this unit will seduce you. The sound is good. The retro design gorgeous. However after a year and half of light to moderate mid volume use the speaker has stopped working completely. Doing further research, this seems to be a common issue with the Marshall Stanmore that remains unresolved. I cannot recommend this product. It is not built to be a last. Avoid at all costs.

    Marshall Stanmore and Bluetooth Connectivity

Well, i woke up this morning, try to connect to my Stanmore via bluetooth with my MacBook from 2010, working on OS X Yosemite, and suddenly i couldn't connect. I was using it last night and suddenly is gone. It connects to it, but no sound coming out of the speaker at all. Funny thing is that i can connect to the speaker with my Windows phone and i it works!, and i can connect with my Windows 8 computer from work and the speaker works perfectly!! Soon...who to blame? Marshall!!??? I don´t think so....
    Apple people...get your **** together

    DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

I have never reviewed a product ever, but buying a $400+ speaker that only worked for a year is too frustrating. DO NOT WASTE your money, if I could give it less than one star I would.

    worst product ever

I bought this speaker a year ago, it worked great at the beginning. It broke down within 3 months. I still loved it so I exchanged it due to its good performance. However, its bluetooth has connection problems after a year. I am thinking if I should return it or discard it?

    Great Speaker

So many bad reviews here & they all concern Bluetooth connection. There is nothing wrong with your Marshall Stanmore, it is clearly a software glitch with OSX. Not a problem just pair up the speaker when you want to use it. In my humble opinion I think the sound is absolutely amazing! I am very happy with the speaker. As usual with computers etc it is the user who has the connectivity issue & not the device. Major makers don't produce thousands of duds.. humans however.. just think problems through.

Yes, looks good and sounds great. But, after a few months it stop working. I had two replacements in a year and both fails. This is the worst product ever made. Period.

    Great design, and sound...limited lifetime.

The good: I purchased the Stanmore based on the amazing sound it produced in our demos at the Apple Store, The design and construction is synonomous with the quality expected of a Marshall speaker. The unit has that solid overbuilt feel and looks amazing just about anywhere, the knobs have a solid response and attention to detail in the various input/output options. The bad: sometime after purchase the Stanmore began having issues with dropping the bluetooth signal or intermittant loss of signal, eventually not connecting at all. This was overcome by using the line in, as the speakers performance was still perfect, until one day it just stopped. I am working with Zound industries for a repair/repalcement and was impressed by their prompt follow up reponse. Looking forward to contiuing to enjoy the Marshal Stanmore... I have given it 3 stars based on the limited lifetime of the speaker... for the price I had expected more longevity... understandably with as many speakers that are shipped sometimes there is a bad unit...aside from that this powered speaker rocks and I would definitely recommend it.

Great sound, great looks & then...stops working!

Tolerated the annoying having to turn off & on to re-pair with my iphone (having to wait a minute for the power light to go off in order to reconnect) - had to also unplug & plug in the lead to connect that way when I got tired of the bluetooth issues.

Given the price & only being 9 months old, this is not on!

Lets see how they perform on the warranty claim.

Back to my very trusty Bose sound dock!
