    Good but not durable

I bought this keyboard as I wanted the number pad on the side. I bought it in December 2016 and everything was working fine and I thought it was a great keyboard. It is now February 2017 and the caps key is stuck on and won't work anymore. I can't believe this only lasted 2 months. I would not recommend buying it as I have seen similar reviews about the same issue.

Selling low quality product with very high price

OK Apple. This is just an another wired keyboard. You don't have to charge that much because your keyboard doesn't last long. Now, some of my keys are not working anymore. It should last much more longer with this much price. Really disappointed. I am going to buy cheaper classic PC keyboard.

This Keyboard > More Expense Magic Keyboard

I cannot believe this keyboard is half the price of the wireless one that has less keys and is less user friendly. I love that the keys are springy and raised up higher than the magic keyboard. It makes it so much easier and faster to type, especially if you have long nails like myself. I struggled to type on the magic keyboard but it is truly a breeze and pleasure on this keyboard. The keyboard is also physically raised up higher versus the magic keyboard, in my opinion making it much easier on your wrists and more effective for quick typing, which is what a keyboard's function is. This keyboard is sturdy and reliable, unlike the magic keyboard that loved to disconnect at times or act strange where I would have to disconnect the bluetooth and reconnect it again.

The only con would be if you have a small work space, the keyboard is pretty long, and competes for space with my mouse and trackpad.

ALL IN ALL, I love this keyboard, I never thought I'd genuinely enjoy a keyboard until I got my hands on this one. Highly recommend it.

Good Keyboard Until It Stops Working

I've had my Apple USB Keyboard with Numeric Keypad for 17 months. It worked great until yesterday when, inexplicably, the 'esc, tilde, tab, and caps lock' keys simultaneously stopped working. My wife has the same keyboard, which I plugged into my MacBook Pro to confirm that my computer was not the source of the problem . . . it wasn't. I tried all of the other tests suggested by online techies to no avail. So, now it appears that I have to go out and buy a new keyboard. I thought Apple products were engineered to last more than 17 months . . . not so, I guess.

    Excellent Keyboard

Super keyboard, responsive and a pleasure to use.
I use it with a MacBook PRO and I can't fault it.

Lot of money for something that won't last

Nice looking keyboard but iMac won't acknowledge it exists. Just something that happens after a year or two. It of course does this on startup so i couldn't log in until I brought an old pic keyboard from work.Imay just stick with that keyboard instead of spending another $50

    Short Lifespan

I'm sorry I have to join the negative club, as it's a very nice keyboard while it lasts. But I've had to replace one for all the reasons listed by others. Keys lose their spring, and just lie flat. They lose their electronic connectivity, and no longer function. They lie lopsided, and cue multiple strikes whenever touched. These things should not occur as they do, at the age of the product that they do (and without warranty support that lasts long enough; unless you're okay getting just one year of protected use from your product).

HORRIBLE! Apple needs to update and improve external keyboards!!!!

I am now on #6....all within 3 years. I am an author who makes her living writing. This keyboard will work one day, and the next, one or two of the keys just stop working. Nothing brings them back. No spills, no drops, no cat or dog hair....it just stops working. Happens EVERY time... these things are EXPENSIVE!!! What is wrong with Apple that they can't produce a reliable external wired keyboard? Tried the Apple wireless keyboard as well - it stopped working after 6 months.

    Failure Rate

Granted we are protools operators that use the keyboards daily, however I'm looking at a pile of keyboards in my office. I've had over 10 of these die within 3 years. The previous models have lasted 3 time as long. What gives Apple?

Excellent, sturdy, spill-proof and very reliable

Had to use a keyboard with numeric pad in France - otherwise you need the shift key to get numbers. On return to the UK finally moved back to a QWERTY keyboard after trying this second-hand purchase. That was in 2013 and still haven't bought a new one!

    Apple Keyboard with numeric keypad

Very disappointed with this product. First 3 keyboards they changed at the store as they stopped working. Later I found out you have to use the extension usb cable and they work again. Today another one broke using a very dry damped cloth and cleaning keyboard upside down.

Specious, overpriced, poorly designed and short-lived.

Do not buy one of these! I have had four and they all fail after just over a year - whence cannot be exchanged. They are, like almost all of Apple's new products, cynically contrived to be un-repairable. Even when useable, they hardly offer a good tactical experience.

Instead buy a simple Microsoft 600 for less than a quarter of the price. It can be cleaned and repaired and, for that matter is more pleasant to use.

    Great Keyboard...USB ports Pointless

Bought this keyboard so I could have a desktop set up with my new 2015 MacBook. The keyboard itself looks great and is nice type on. The keys are laid out well and has all the apple fiction keys you would expect to find on a Mac keyboard. However the USB ports on the keyboard have so little power going to them that I can't even plug in a USB Flash key without getting the low power warning. As the new MacBook only has one usb-c port I would have thought that they would make its power output enough for the keyboard ports to be fit for purpose. Very disappointed.

In a nutshell, if you are buying this keyboard to work with your new mabook, don't even think about being able to use the 2 USB ports!

    Disappointing

Nice form factor, really welcome having all the keys.
    But, a few disappointing points.
Moving the fn key is a pain because on the laptop I had finally gotten used to it being bottom left. Now that is gone again.

But the worst thing is the actual typing. 1 in 3 words, at least 1 letter will be mised. Makes you think you're typing wrongly, then you go bak and realise you DID hit the key, it just didn't respond. Looks like the macbook chiclet keyboard but is Nowhere near as good. The keys are wobbly and rattly and unresponsive.

On 3rd keyboard in 2 years

This keyboard works great…for a minute. First one, immediately would only work intermittently w the Thunderbolt I bought at the same time. Because of the timing, I assumed it was the Thunderbolt, so I brought it into the Genius Bar to be told it was fine and must be the keyboard. This was confirmed when I replaced that brand new keyboard to have it work fine the first few weeks, but then after those first few weeks...

Now every time I restart my laptop (connected to the Thunderbolt screen which in turn connects the keyboard to the MacBook Pro) or re-plug in my laptop from being away, it does not work. Every time. I have to unplug it, plug it into a different port, wait 15-20 seconds to see if it acknowledges it, rinse and repeat about a dozen times until it finally sees it again.

Today, after playing the above game for 1.5 years, it just stopped working altogether, even when plugged into my laptop directly or the iMac. Back to the Apple store I go for my THIRD keyboard in less than 3 years.

If this third keyboard has the same connectivity issue, I will be returning it and going non-Mac moving forward. A shame, as if you take away the connection issues, it feels great, has a good bounce to the keys and a nice texture on the surface.

    Keyboard doesn't work

I'm this right moment using a the keyboard of my macbook pro because my work station is stopped. Sometimes the keyboard doesn't work, if you restart doesn't work, if you connect usb in other entrance doesn't work.... However, if you connect the same keyboard on 150U$ PC it works perfectly. I'm very upset with Apple on this product. I have Iphone, Ipods, Ipads, Macbook and others...

    Dysfunctional Space Key

I have found the space key on my brand new keyboard to be dysfunctional. It does not recognize my right thumb when it hits the key. The stroke is recognized only when my thumb is perfectly centered on the keyboard or a I use my left thumb, thus I say this is not a writers keyboard. Ernest Hemingway would have used this thing for target practice and I'm considering switching to a typewriter too.

    Doesn't Always Work

This would be an amazing keyboard if when you connected it it worked. I use this keyboard in a docking station type set-up with my laptop. As Apple doesn't actually offer a docking station, I had to create my own. I use a macbook pro 13 inch retina. I plug this keyboard in and out depending on where I am working, at my desk or on the move. However, the keyboard (or my mac) fairly regularly fails to recognize the fact that the keyboard is plugged in. Restarts don't work. Plugging and unplugging doesn't work. The extension cable that people suggest worked for a bit then stopped. Above all Apple tech support couldn't help. I highly recommend staying away from this keyboard if you plan on using it with a laptop. It could be great, but isn't. :/
