    Apple Keyboard with numeric keypad

    Very disappointed with this product. First 3 keyboards they changed at the store as they stopped working. Later I found out you have to use the extension usb cable and they work again. Today another one broke using a very dry damped cloth and cleaning keyboard upside down.

    Specious, overpriced, poorly designed and short-lived.

    Do not buy one of these! I have had four and they all fail after just over a year - whence cannot be exchanged. They are, like almost all of Apple's new products, cynically contrived to be un-repairable. Even when useable, they hardly offer a good tactical experience.

    Instead buy a simple Microsoft 600 for less than a quarter of the price. It can be cleaned and repaired and, for that matter is more pleasant to use.

    On 3rd keyboard in 2 years

    This keyboard works great…for a minute. First one, immediately would only work intermittently w the Thunderbolt I bought at the same time. Because of the timing, I assumed it was the Thunderbolt, so I brought it into the Genius Bar to be told it was fine and must be the keyboard. This was confirmed when I replaced that brand new keyboard to have it work fine the first few weeks, but then after those first few weeks...

    Now every time I restart my laptop (connected to the Thunderbolt screen which in turn connects the keyboard to the MacBook Pro) or re-plug in my laptop from being away, it does not work. Every time. I have to unplug it, plug it into a different port, wait 15-20 seconds to see if it acknowledges it, rinse and repeat about a dozen times until it finally sees it again.

    Today, after playing the above game for 1.5 years, it just stopped working altogether, even when plugged into my laptop directly or the iMac. Back to the Apple store I go for my THIRD keyboard in less than 3 years.

    If this third keyboard has the same connectivity issue, I will be returning it and going non-Mac moving forward. A shame, as if you take away the connection issues, it feels great, has a good bounce to the keys and a nice texture on the surface.

    Keyboard doesn't work

    I'm this right moment using a the keyboard of my macbook pro because my work station is stopped. Sometimes the keyboard doesn't work, if you restart doesn't work, if you connect usb in other entrance doesn't work.... However, if you connect the same keyboard on 150U$ PC it works perfectly. I'm very upset with Apple on this product. I have Iphone, Ipods, Ipads, Macbook and others...

    Dysfunctional Space Key

    I have found the space key on my brand new keyboard to be dysfunctional. It does not recognize my right thumb when it hits the key. The stroke is recognized only when my thumb is perfectly centered on the keyboard or a I use my left thumb, thus I say this is not a writers keyboard. Ernest Hemingway would have used this thing for target practice and I'm considering switching to a typewriter too.

    Doesn't Always Work

    This would be an amazing keyboard if when you connected it it worked. I use this keyboard in a docking station type set-up with my laptop. As Apple doesn't actually offer a docking station, I had to create my own. I use a macbook pro 13 inch retina. I plug this keyboard in and out depending on where I am working, at my desk or on the move. However, the keyboard (or my mac) fairly regularly fails to recognize the fact that the keyboard is plugged in. Restarts don't work. Plugging and unplugging doesn't work. The extension cable that people suggest worked for a bit then stopped. Above all Apple tech support couldn't help. I highly recommend staying away from this keyboard if you plan on using it with a laptop. It could be great, but isn't. :/

    it reeks

    It might be a good keyboard but it will have to go back because it reeks. Its smells strongly of a mixture of acrylic nails and a touch of ammonia?

    Am I just unlucky or is it just that the quality dropped

    I am a web-developer and I travel a lot.
    I tend to take really good care of my products as they're the tools that bring food on my table.
    I've got my first keyboard about a year an a half ago, which died after a year, for no reason at all (never spelt anything on it, had a cover to protect it if such things were to happen) the keys started failing one after the other.
    So i decided to purchase another one. Delivery was fast, so at least one thing to be happy about. The keyboard by itself feels great but after only 6 month of use, never dropping it, never spilling anything on it, again the keys started failing.
    This time it was the light on the caps lock. Went to take my brake, locked my computer, came back and the "A" key stopped working, out of nowhere, which resulted in being locked out of the computer until i've found somebody to lend me a backup keyboard (one day of work lost as i didn't activated the digital keyboard so no way to bypass the password).
    So so far i've spent about 200 dollars on keyboards that keeps failing one after the other... Seriously ....
    On top of that the keyboard on my Mbair failed a week later, which then leaded to the screen failure according to the apple official retailer who offered me to fix the keyboard and the screen for the little price of 2800 dollars ... Yeah 2800 dollars for a Mbair that is only 3 years old.
    Fortunately i still have my Macmini for backup. So now i'm gonna have to purchase another keyboard, wait for you guys to release a new Mbpro which i hope will be a nice upgrade otherwise i'll have my two employees and myself to switch over another company because it is really exhausting to have products failing one after the other.
    I know i use them intensively but that is my job and i remember a time where my apple products would last and where the customer service would see me as a valuable customer ( 2Mac mini 2Mbpro13inch 1mbpro15inch and 1mbair + the numerous keyboard over the years).

    Anyways i'll give this guy another chance but if it fails again for no reason I swear i'll switch over another brand !

    What happened to the quality?

    I had one of these keyboards for years and it always worked perfectly. I had to buy a new one as I lost the old one in a house move. Well, I should have listened to the reviews. Just after the 90 day warranty expired, it failed. And I hardly even used it - maybe 10 times tops. Some keys no longer work, some keys do things they shouldn't do and basically, it's now useless. 3 month life for a barely used keyboard? Shame on you Apple. Sort your manufacturing and quality control out. Total waste of money. If I could give it no stars I would.

    $20 price increase? What for?

    Went to grab another one of these as I go through ~1 every 2 years and found the price had increased by $20. So, what are the new features? There aren't any. Here I was thinking they'd added backlighting, a feature I'd be willing to pay the extra for, but nope. The keyboard was already priced at a premium so I scoffed at the team member at my local Apple store once I was told of the price hike. Poor form, Apple.

    The body of the keyboard is flexible so tends to bend when you press the keys. There should be a middle support (like at the ends) to stop this. Feels cheap. Don't buy

    USB keyboard is not Apple's finest product, it does NOT just work!!!
    It regularly stops working requiring all sorts of workarounds.
    Just google it and observe the extreme frustration observed by many users.
    An unreliable product that should be avoided at all cost to avoid raising your blood pressure.
    Substandard quality not up to what we expect of Apple.

    Failed after 12+ months

    The apple wireless keyboard that came with my iMac failed after warranty had expired, so I decided to get a new Apple keyboard. This one with numeric keypad was appealing, since it is much easier to input data in spreadsheets with it... I did not mind it was wired (my printer, mouse, touchpad, external drive... all those are wireless, so usually there are plenty of usb ports free). However, this keyboard failed on me as well, pretty much the same problem I had with the wireless one: several keys in a "column" (8, i, k, .) became irresponsive. Next day another row: "7, 4, 1"... This is a home computer, with very light use, the keyboard was never abused, or moved around... and there is nothing that can be done to try to fix it: its elegant design is achieved by glueing it together. This time I decided to look under my desk and bring back to duty a 2003 apple keyboard (A1048), not as sleek but extremely reliable, with actual full sized keys... It makes much more sense too: Why have a "laptop" style keyboard attached to a desktop computer? Footprint is the same, and I now think it looks and feels rather nice...

    I don't never saw nothing like that!
    I'm an unconditional fan of Apple, but...
    I've an iPhone, a Mac Pro, a MacBook Pro and several applications from Apple.
    This is the 3 keyboard that I was buy!!
    How can it be possible, try to clean one key (according to Apple procedures), lost the key function and have to buy another keyboard!!!???

    Terrible - do not buy

    Strike 3 - you're out. I've had 3 of these keyboards now in less than 4 years. Whole blocks of keys stopped working on the first. On the second and third - the whole keyboard just stopped working one day.

    Also, throughout their extremely short lifetime it was a battle for my MacBook Air or Thunderbolt display to even acknowledge it was attached. Had to restart the computer or, on a good day, un-plug and re-plug the keyboard.

    Looks good but is so flakey and short-lived that, in my opinion, it's bordering on dishonest to sell it.

    Do not buy

    Do your homework. Read these reviews. Check the support forums. All of them will show that this keyboard works with a Mac computer for 1-2 months before mysteriously failing. The reports are all exactly the same, the keyboard mysteriously stops working with the Mac, yet continues to work fine with clunky old PCs, meanwhile the Mac easily handles 3rd party keyboards... clearly some sort of OS or firmware issue between the two. DO NOT BUY. Apple will not support you on this issue. I spend hours trying to resolve and finally was given the option to buy a new keyboard... thanks Apple, enjoy your billions of profit.

    This keyboard does not work very well i have had to take it back two times now for the same problem it stopes working and i have to plug in a windows base keyboard. i will be returning it for the third keyboard. very dissatisfied .

    2 broken keyboards later

    I bought this keyboard back in October. I returned it in January because my Thunderbolt was no longer recognizing it. They claimed it was the monitor but it wasn't it was the keyboard. Exchanged it and then had the same issue happen now in June. Thankfully I went in and they let me pay the difference for the wireless one (although it was $20 and is missing the 10 key..not too happy about that). I would recommend staying away from this keyboard as I had so many issues!

    Poor build quality

    I have purchased four of these for my 2011 macbook pro. Only one lasted longer than six months. The These are great when they work, but are very delicate and break within a few months of moderate use. I use my mac to code and write documentation. I hate to say it, but if you do any amount of typing, you are better off going with a 3rd party keyboard.
