    MacBook Tiger User

I am a student who has a White Macbook with the 2.16 Intel, and the 120 GB HDD. I am running 10.4.11, and was worried about the function keys. I bought the keyboard, and was thrilled to find out that the sync was seamless. I am a fairly heavy typer, and I tend to slam the speacebar. Even with the thin profile, this keyboard will take every punch of the key. I have never been so comfortable typing on any keyboard. The Keys move flawlessly, the layout is ideal, and the dual USB Ports allow for a mouse on either side, when my left handed brother needs to use it. I am amazed at how little it costs, and I HIGHLY recommend it for ANY Mac user, who types a fair amount.

    Match made in heaven

I have this keyboard at work. I was skeptical at first, but the multi-media (Function) keys rock. I can start and pause songs in iTunes even when it's not the active window. The only bad thing is now I want to replace my PC style keyboard on my Mac at home. Santa, please...

Fabulous Keyboard Much Better Than My Apple Wired One

I ordered this keyboard and got it in five days, and I'm in Canada and it is only 4 weeks to Christmas, so thought that was pretty darn good. Keyboard itself is lovely - attractive matte aluminum on the top with two USB ports. It was very easy to hook up to my laptop external display screen and the mouse plugs into the right side of the keyboard - since I'm right-handed this is perfect. The keys are flat and I love the touch - they have the same high tech feel as the keys on my laptop but much easier to use. The angle of this keyboard is almost flat on the desk and my wired Apple keyboard had the back of it almost two inches off the desk, so it had more of an angle than my new aluminum one, but I had no problem getting used to it.

What I really love is that the keys cover the holes and there is not much room around them. Even though I was compulsive about keeping stuff away from my other keyboard, and I almost never ate while at the computer, after a while my wired keyboard somehow got a surprising amount of small stuff (crumbs, cat hair, dust bits, etc.) underneath the keys and I couldn't get it out. I also really like that this is a full size keyboard with the number palette on the right, because I use my keyboard across the corner of my desk and it needs to be long in order to sit diagonally across the 90 degree corner. I also feel that the price is very reasonable for such a nice accessory. The set-up was really easy, follow instructions and the download was quick and easy. Often I take my exterior keyboard with me if I take my computer somewhere, and this one is thin and light, and a joy to put in my computer case.

I'm a very fast typist, with all ten fingers the old fashioned way, and this keyboard keeps up with me no problem.

Great - Prefer to the wireless version.

I tried the wireless version and could not get used to the thing. Kept putting fingers in wrong locations and it felt cramped. Some keys moved around as well, had to keep stopping to think about how to adapt to the thing.

I took it back and got the wired keyboard for my Mac Pro and everything is in it's place, the keyboard absolutely flies, and the flatness is great, just love it. Best keyboard I've ever used, no question.

    Amazing

This thing looks amazing, feels amazing to type on - and is just all around awesome! I have owned many keyboards in my lifetime, and this is by far the best i've owned so far. I have it hooked up to my Macbook which sits on a Griffin Elevator in addition to a wireless mighty mouse. The best combination you could ever ask for. And the price is extremely reasonable!

    Slim and Trim

I love the new keyboard! Great design and wonderful touch for us none typists. Only wish it could have been angled a bit more...or had an option to adjust for personal preference. I also wish the wireless keyboard would have been available in the longer format. I never really liked MAC's compressed options of the shorter keyboard and swore I'd never go back after their last attempt at its design. If you are not typing from across the room and don't mind a cable attached to your monitor...get hooked up to the longer version of the keyboard again! I love it! I'd give it a five if they had made it wireless AND long!

    Amazing Keyboard

I absolutely love this keyboard. I was a little weary about spending $50 on a wired keyboard, but I am really glad that I did. The touch on this keyboard is amazing and allows me to type very quickly without having to strain my fingers at all. The media control buttons as well as the single Exposé button (you press Command and Option to invoke the other Exposé displays) are really useful. It also works really well when using it on my lap because it has such a low profile that it feels like I am not actually typing on anything.

My only complaint is that the USB ports are far under the keyboard, so I have to pick it up to plug anything in. This isn't a huge problem, and shouldn't be a reason for someone not to get it.

Who knew a keyboard could be this different?

I had no idea that a keyboard could make this much difference. I actually just bought it because it matched my monitor. I use a MacMini. I came home and downloaded the driver (a bit of a surprise for an apple product) and it worked beautifully. I have my printer running through the side USB slot and have had no problems with the info. I do have one small irritation, however. Because I have limited room for my keyboard and mouse (I'm a researcher), the placement of the USB ports is a little annoying. My printer USB cord interferes with the area I use for my wireless mighty mouse. However, the rest of the product is outstanding!!

    BEST! KEYBOARD! EVER!

Seriously, I love the keys on my MacBook, and when I found out I could have them on my Mac Pro I just had to have it. Excellent in all aspects!

    Awesome

Absolutely love this keyboard, I'm so used to using the function keys assigned on my MacBook Pro, but I'm getting used to the new layout.

One thing I don't understand is why Apple had to make the USB extension cord exclusive for the keyboard - I think that's a little ridiculous. I didn't even know it came with the keyboard and when I saw it I thought, "cool, I can extend my usb cable for my iPod" won't work, though. Ah well

A Pleasant and Very Thin Surprise

I couldn't believe how thin this keyboard was! Works wonderfully-- allows my fingertips to just glide along with no problem.

Switching from the classic keyboard to this has been interesting, since the keys are flat and softly textured. There are no grooves, so that takes about 30 seconds to get used to.

The bottom and USB port housing is white plastic, and a USB extender is included! Remember to run Software Update after you plug it in!

Coolest and easiest keyboard to date.

Looks Great, just a few things to keep in mind, however

The look is absolutely sexy, to say the least. I love it. The only problem I really have is that the USB ports on the sides of the keyboard are LOW-POWER USB ports, so don't try to connect your iPod or something that requires a lot of power (something that may charge through the USB in addition to connecting to the computer via USB, because it just won't work. You still need to use your external usb hub or usb port on your computer. Also, I am still trying to figure out how to use the buttons on the function keys to control, pause/play, play next track. I tried holding down the function key and pressing it, as well a bunch of other combinations, but I haven't figured it out. I'm sure it's not too complicated, but I thought it would have been easy enough not to do research before using those buttons. Overall, the keyboard is astonishing, and much better than the wireless, in my opinion, because of the # pad and arrow keys on the right which are missing from the wireless.
Thanks Apple for another good job!

Sweet... works on my powerbook & old Dell w/win 2000!

    Amazing keyboard!

Does have a learning curve, more like a large laptop type feel, but clean & good... and might be the new standard.

About a 1/2 inch shorter than old Apple wireless/standard keyboard in size.

But keys & spacing not mushed together. And I have large hands.

I bought it... the wired version, because another reviewer said that it would work in windows. I have to keep a Dell 2000 & Toshiba XP going for some work... and this keyboard will be switched out when the wireless version with keypad comes out! It works no problem on Windows 2000 & XP.

I was so sick & tired of cleaning my old open face apple keyboard! And felt guilty using canned air, too try to keep it clean.

    Totally worth it!

Now if Apple will make the same thing wireless... with number-pad (some of us have to play with them daily) I'd buy another one in a second!!!

    Best 50 bucks I've spent

I replaced a worn-out, terminally dirty white keyboard with the aluminum model, and I am thoroughly pleased. After using the new one, a conventional keyboard seems to require much too much effort. It is a pleasure not to hear the tickety-tick of large, clunky keys any more. The tactile response is superb, because of the low-profile keys my fingers remain much closer to the keyboard, and typing is substantially faster with fewer mistakes. Given the premium prices charged for most Apple products, for $50 the aluminum keyboard is the best bargain Apple has ever offered.

    WOW!

I have never had much use for keyboards as long as I've had my MacBook Pro. I've always just tossed my hands up on the top-case and typed away. But I started to see signs of wear, in the form of what could best be described as "sweat damage".

But just recently, when Apple replaced my top-case because of a malfunctioning touch-pad button, I knew it was time to finally get a keyboard. I didn't want to, in six months, find my laptop worn down.

This keyboard is beautiful. Has a perfect amount of button recoil. And if you use the standard MacBook, you'll feel truly at home.

The ONLY complaint I have, is that the USB ports on the sides, don't give off enough power for a mobile hard drive or an iPod dock. But a Mighty Mouse works just fine.

All in all, this is the future of keyboards, no doubt.

    Where'd the Apple logo go?

Are they trying to phase out their own logo? The first thing I noticed about the new keyboard is that they are missing the Apple logo on the Command button. That has been on every keyboard made by Apple since the Macintosh came out.

Other than that, this keyboard is nice. I miss the old key configurations, however. I like having the volume buttons on the right hand side as well as eject. I also wish the bluetooth keyboard was a full keyboard. I want a full featured desktop computer, that is completely wireless but its not full-featured without a full keyboard. Hrm....

I think I'll keep the white wireless keyboard.

I am kind of in the middle with these new keyboards. I like and dislike them.

    Pleasantly Surprised!

I picked up the Aluminum Keyboard with a little bit of apprehension, but I have found this to be an awesome keyboard. Past the way that i looks (which is great) it functions well, and all the keys work. I know some are reporting problems, but it has worked fine on my iMac which is an early Intel model. I loaded the software update, and that was that.

All around it's just a really nice piece of hardware, very solid, compact, and stylish. Typing is a breeze, and as some have noted I seem to be making less mistakes typing.
