Great mouse, but it eats a lot of batteries.

    • Written by from Philadelphia

Mostly I love the performance of the new Magic Mouse, but it has its drawbacks. Occasionally it will page back or forward with the slightest touch, but overall that isn't a big inconvenience. The major downside of this product is that it uses batteries very inefficiently. I've had mine for less than two months and already changed them twice after the originals wore off in about a week. (I see that Apple has added a $29 reusable battery charger to the accessories for the Magic Mouse, probably for this reason.) Though I love the touch-sensitive technology and it works very well, I'd prefer the good old standby USB mouse that didn't create as much waste and expense.

Green Solution to battery life problems?

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I do agree that this product should have been made with better battery life, but in the interim, if you are stuck with this mouse, why not go "green" ourselves and buy re-chargeable batteries?

    Just got crazy!!

    • Written by from Arlington

The mouse gets crazy every 5 minutes when working on Excel. No idea why, but it is a bit strange. The other features are great but this is not that nice. I think I would prefer a normal mouse, even when apple products are amazing in general.

OK mouse, with scotch tape repair

    • Written by from Wenatchee

I found this mouse to be not exactly magic. One notable problem, too much friction generated on the runners, can be repaired by a strip of scotch tape cut in half length wise and put on the runners; it slides easier and works better. Quite high tech.

    amazing design , bad tracking

    • Written by from Grand-Mere

the mouse itself simply look amazing and I think that everybody will agree with me on that but it feels terrible in your hands ( at least in mine ). the laser tracking sensor or call it whatever you wan't is at the tip of the mouse , in my opinion they should have putted it in the middle of the mouse for more accurate tracking but I guess after a couple of weeks of use you get used to it . the tracking is slow too , but with magicprefs installed the speed is just fine. all in all it's a pretty good mouse , you need a bit of time to get used to it but definitely worth the money

    Great but fragile quality

    • Written by from springfield

I think the mouse is great overall. It responds nicely, it's easy too use and pretty on the eyes. My only complaint is that for almost three quarters of a benjamin the materials are really weak. I mean, it's wireless so there is a great chance you will drop it accidentally. The battery cover is as weak as tin despite being aluminum. I would have to remove two stars based on the longevity, sturdiness, and price. It's a buy, only if you don't already own a bluetooth mouse but otherwise, wait for a price drop.

    Elegant but.....

    • Written by from North Las Vegas

It is attractive and blends well with the imac and keyboard. The biggest issue I have found is battery life....you're lucky to get 2 weeks.
My "not as sexy" Logitech from Walmart uses only 1 battery, not 2, and lasts at least
    6 months.

    Great concept but needs work

    • Written by from Lehi

The look is awesome, the idea is awesome, but the usability is lacking. I've been using this mouse for a year, and there's a few things that really ought to be fixed. For starters, it can lose connection with your computer with the slightest bump, and I mean the slightest (like when you reach for the mouse and touch it). And it happens to my friend's who also use them. Then there's times where it won't connect to my computer for a few hours, then randomly will again.

Using it with Adobe software, the finger swipe scroll works half the time.

Using it on Google Maps is a nightmare (be prepared to get frustrated).

So all in all, the bluetooth capabilities are poor and using it on Adobe products or Web Apps produces inconsistent results. But it LOOKS nice and the idea is even better. 3 stars

Nice Mouse - Terrible Battery Life

    • Written by from New York

Oh wait, I was just interrupted by another low battery notice.

The mouse is fine. Great weight, feels good in your hand. Bluetooth is a little slow to connect initially but works well afterward. The big problem is battery life. Please fix this Apple for the next version. I feel I'm constantly changing the batteries.

    It's Alright

    • Written by from Walton

The apple mouse is a beautiful mouse. I definately like the scrolling and the multi-touch aspects of it. It does right click every now and then when I intend to left click. It's just a matter of where you place your fingers; far enough out. One bad aspect is, I put it in my backpack, and it turns out, It scratches very easily, and the way it's made, they're noticeable, visually, and physically when scrolling. A glass surface or something stronger would have been nicer, so hopefully you don't make the same mistake. Other than that, it works well. The best way I found to use it is by using the fingers to hold it, not grip it like most mouses work.

    awesome! just improve on somethings...

    • Written by from 上海

although apple have applied multi-touch into this mouse, but i think you can add expose and spaces and other stuff you can do with the trackpad. (i know how to do it but it is rather complicated) so just work on it. otherwise, it is AWESOME!!!

    Not bad...

    • Written by from London

The mouse itself is very good looking and sleek. Whereas the functionality of the thing is absolutely irritating at times! I mean the two finger swipe feature sounds good, but when actually used intentionally it never seems to work. Though at random times when your hand touches the mouse, it just jumps back to the previous screen! In which you will share my frustration when this occurs in the middle of writing an email or playing a game e.t.c. Though I do like the concept of the wireless mouse and in most cases it does function very well and looks very good alongside my wireless keyboard.

    Pretty but pretty heavy

    • Written by from Watertown

This is a lovely little thing; updates quickly w/bluetooth and the finger scrolling is cool. But...I use a Kensington Pocket mouse usually and Magic Mouse feels very heavy. I don't have big hands and the MM fits my hand but has no curve to match the curve of the palm so there's a little "stress" in my wrist. Also I am spoiled with right clicking to get a pop-up list of actions, like spell correcting. The MM i have doesn't do this, and yes, I did do a software update, hoping that was the issue.

So it's novel, with a high level of attractiveness but lower than expected level of usefulness. But that touch-scrolling thing is, admittedly, a very nice feature.

    recipe for Carpel tunnel syndrome

    • Written by from quincy

I didn't buy it. I tried it out at an Apple Store. I found the grip of the mouse fells really awkward and the angle of the fingers to use the touch features is awkward on the wrist as well. I can just image what it would do to my hand after using it a few hours a day. It looks cool tho. I pass bought the Magic trackpad instead.

coolness factor high but not ergonomic

    • Written by from San Francisco

Having a BT mouse is nice it frees up a usb port. Its sleek, good solid weight (doesn't feel cheap) and smooth to glide on most surfaces (mouse pad recommended). Its nice that you can set up a left and right click. Gestures are still better done on the multi-touch trackpad if you have a macbook/pro. The biggest complaint I think people will have is the mouse is too thin. It doesn't take the shape of a resting palm you end up keeping your hand stretched, in time you get tired. People with bad wrist like me will have trouble.

    magic mouse

As far as maneuvering around a desktop - great. Less than great is the way this device gobbles up batteries - about every two weeks two more AAs. Also takes a while for the bluetooth to kick in.

good but not for designing work and gaming

    • Written by from Eugene

When I use with Program Blender, it cannot do middle button for zooming in. And the height of the mouse is a litter bit too low for comfortable use. It hurts my hand when I use it. Moreover, its price is a litter bit too expensive.
