    Eats batteries.

    • Written by from Palatine

I received it in Oct and have gone through 4 pairs of batteries already. Granted it is the most used device besides my computer itself. I have not had the need to learn the special strokes but I do enjoy the scrolling and having it stop with the touch of a finger.

    google maps & earth issue

    • Written by from KEY WEST

Overall the mouse is awesome, but if you spend a lot of time on google earth or google maps you may want to reconsider; The swipe scroll is very touchy, jumpy, and almost impossible to maneuver. Other than that issue and not being able to use 'expose' the mouse is awesome.

    Too Magical

    • Written by from EDMONTON

It is cool on how it can scroll. but It is a little sensitive on scrolling & clicking. You do have to replace the batteries & rechargeable batteries are replaced once a week.
It is light & wireless which I like. There is no support for you whole hand & it is very thin.
I received this mouse for free.So I was not out of pocket change.
They should put a sensitivity level on the remote mouse or the software so it can be turned on or off.

you're average joe with a few cool things

    • Written by from Galway

let me start by saying that i've been an hardcore-gamer for almost two decades... so what i look for in a mouse might not be just the average click

the mouse came with my imac and at first glance straight from the box it really looks stunning

pairing (along with the keyboard) is simple and quick and never had a problem with connections (also using more bluetooth devices)

the touch is very good but you might be forced to click on the very edge on the right side (for a straight-right-handed person) to get that second click working with no problems

after a few hours of use you start to get a bit tired of the way the mouse fits in your hand, if you're unlucky like me to have a different hand-shape (or hold the mouse in a different way) than the person who was designing it

another thing it's the maximum speed you can get with the mouse - as i'm using a 27'' screen (sometimes, two) i find it to take a long time to scroll the mouse from one side of the desktop to the other, even with settings at the maximum speed - but i suppose that is more like a osx setting than a mouse feature to tweak

i'm using the mouse with a razer exactmat prefering the x-speed surface (over the x-control surface)

i've used it only for a month and this is my view regarding some applications:

    - desktop - as i said, it's a bit slow to go around from one corner to the other

    - safari - missing the not-so-obvious clicks but scrolls are magnificent

    - dreamweaver / flash - nothing much to add if you just do simple clicks but after a while you get tired of using the mouse and turn to something more comfortable

    - cod - surprisingly fast and responsive and never had a glitch - shoots where i'm aiming but i'll keep using razer for this

    - wow - again, missing buttons but very good, even in pvp along with the spaced-key keyboard - surprisingly responsive

bottom line, it's a very cool looking mouse and i'm keeping it in the living room to have something cool to show to my guests - even with all the technology applied, the usage don't justify the high price tag, specially if you do more than just browse a web in a small window that needs constance scrolling - it is a great advance in mouse-clicking technology and it's absolutely gorgeous

    awesome... but!!!

i love this mouse, but it's not that good for gaming and there is no expose feature like the previous mouse. Although I have that issue solved with better touch tool.

Good, but scroll gesture interpretation could be a little better

    • Written by from Cleveland Heights

Overall, I like the mouse. In fact, I have 3.

That being said, Apple could do a bit to improve the finer points of its gesture interpretation. The mere act of touching your palm to the mouse can sometimes be interpreted as a scroll gesture. To avoid this you have to hold the mouse from the sides without touching your palm to it. In certain applications, this becomes incredibly annoying because after scrolling I have to re-center the window.

It seems like this could all be avoided by forcing the mouse to only interpret scroll gestures if they initiate in the top half of the mouse. Since the palm of your hand usually only touches the bottom of the mouse, this would reduce inadvertent scrolls and still allow for longer scrolls that cross the mid-way threshold.

    Just my 2c.

    The magic mouse

    • Written by from CALGARY

Well as a Mac Book Pro user I was looking forward to getting one of these for my imac. Yes it works very well. It does take a bit to get used to but yes it is worth it on that note. It is a bit load when moving it around but I now find I have to move it around less because some of the features.

My one complaint about this and it is starting to be come more and more of an issue for me as I go along. No power dock!!! As much as I can use rechargable batteries it would be great if there was a dock to plug the mouse into. I would really just perfer a cabled option on the mouse, but I know I might be the minority on that part.

Overall it does work. I would give it a 5 but I am giving it a 3 on my dislike of using batteries and also not having a corded option.

    Almost there!

    • Written by from Boulder

At first, I loved this mouse. The new features are great. It has a sleek, new comfortable design. Two months later, the magic has gone. The batteries are already drained and some of the more subtle imperfections are shining through. I work in Google Sketchup a bit and this program hates my new mouse. It freaks out a lot. It will suddenly zoom way out or zoom way in. Even when I try to keep my index finger way off of the sensors, it continues to behave erratically. For a designer such as myself, it's a disappointment...

    It's give and take

    • Written by

I love the momentum scrolling and it's oh so convenient to be able to touch anywhere on the surface and just start scrolling. BUT, I used the 3rd and 4th buttons on my mighty mouse all the time and it's a little rough to have to go back to the keyboard for things like exposé and dashboard when all I had to do with the mighty mouse was squeeze or click the ball. I also wish the tracking was faster. I'm using 4 monitors and even at max tracking speed, it takes forever to get across them all. I still gave it 3/5 stars, though 'cause the magic mouse is just so sexy!

    Miss my side click

    • Written by from roseburg

The side click button was great for expose. Not having a scroll button to get dirty is great. This mouse proves that you can't have your cake and eat it too. Maybe my expectations are to high.

    It Magically drains batteries

    • Written by from Pacific Beach

While I love this mouse, it does tend to go through batteries rather quickly. I will have to buy a new set of rechargeable batteries since the battery life is less than a month.

Doesn't work well with macbook air

    • Written by from Amityville

I like the mouse because it is very comfortable to use and everything, but for some reason all the functions it is supposed to have for example de screen zoom by "opening two fingers", etc dont work with my macbook air... I've tried to set it up through the "mouse" option in preferences but it just doesn't give the option to set up those functions as it is supposed to do!
Is there something else i have to do to make it work?? is it because of the macbook air??

    right click doesnt work

    • Written by from Dublin

the idea is good but you cannot right click efficiently while your finger is on the left click side. You have to lift one finger before you can click a different way. This is mostly problematic when playing games

    High battery consumption

    Eats Batteries for Lunch

    • Written by from Chicago

Yes, it looks cool. And yes, it works well. But, seriously, I put brand new batteries in on a Friday and by the following Tuesday, the power level was at 49%. What is that??

I was told by someone at the Apple Store that there was a download available to fix the heavy drainage, but couldn't find it and checking with Apple Care revealed there isn't one at this time. Hope that changes. Ripping through the Costco-sized AA packages is going to get old.

    Ergonomically Poor

    • Written by from Nashville

Functionally speaking, this mouse is pretty amazing. Takes a short bit to get used to the heavier feel of a battery operated mouse. The Apple Store sales person assured me it would last several months left fully on, and would simply cease to stop working and not have any lag. It's an all or nothing kind of mouse. That made me happy. The scrolling, swiping, etc. are extremely helpful and useful.

Ergonomically, this mouse is pretty poor. I would give it no stars or one star. It really wears on your fingers for long periods of time. You almost have to have three fingers on the mouse at all times, which makes your pinky that is used as a stabilizer feel a little awkward, as well as the tendons/muscles in your wrist/forearm from having to extend the three middle fingers the entire time to have a semi-comfortable feel.

Great functionality. Very poor ergonomics. Looking forward to the next try.

    Better But

    • Written by from Crawford

This mouse is certainly a huge improvement over the wired version. No more "gumball". The bluetooth is excellent and works flawlessy. No issues. Functionality of the mouse is very good not excellent. I sometimes find that the right click is hit or miss. Biggest issue is ergonomics. I find that it has just to low off a profile to be very comfortable for long periods of use. It has served the purpose of cleaning up my desktop and getting rid of the wires. I also purchased the wireless keyboard and am happy with it. My suggestion? Work with it at a local seller to make sure you are happy with the "feel". Other than that it has met all my expectations. The feel of the mouse knocked it to a three star rating.

    Can't get mine to work

    • Written by from Virginia Beach

The scroll worked the first day. Now, it works likes a regular mouse. I can't get it to scroll. I tried to go into preferences and I've updated the software, but nothing has worked. I would give this a 5 star, but I can't right now..not until I get it figured out.

    Hard to work with!

    • Written by from Hastings D.

Yes, this apple mouse is a very good mouse, but it is very hard to work with when i use Google(TM) maps.
It is very hard because i try to zoom up on something and it really does go crazy, as the mouse is multi touch anywhere on it, i just put my fingers on it sometimes and it moves the whole screen on Google(TM) maps.

Otherwise this mouse is a very great one, looks good and does fine.
    Thank you for reading this.
