    Does a great job

I'm using this as an Airplay device connected to my amp and an ethernet port connected to my Sky+ box. Setup to my Netgear WiFi router was fast and uncomplicated, as always it just works, I'm managing to get 300 Mb/s connection speed which is more than enough for what I need, very pleased.

Not sure why there's so many bad reviews.

I have had no problems at all with my AirPort Express. I love it. It's the perfect product, especially for an Apple lover such as myself. I have my MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple TV all hooked up to it and it's very fast and reliable. The range could be a little better, but this is the base model, I'm sure the Time Capsule will be better, which I plan on getting as well.

Simple elegant solution to wifi range issues

I already use Ariport Extreme to create my wireless network for my family's computers, laptops, pads and iPhones. However, I couldn't get a decent signal in my family room at the other end of our house due to appliance interference and construction obstacles. I learned about Airport Express and purchased today. I simply plugged in the Express in my family room opposite the TV, waited a few seconds for my AirPort Extreme to recognize it and bam! We now could receive a strong signal to our TV. Works perfectly and as described.

    Can't turn off 2,4GHz - interference problems

Despite having 5GHz and 2,4GHz bands, the software does not allow to turn off 2,4GHz, which interferes with the MagicMouse, MagicTrackpad and wireless keyboard, various DECT phones and other bluetooth devices. Also if you have an HTC Vive, the 2,4GHz will interfere withouyour controllers. Until Apple allows to use this with 5GHz only, don't buy it. Other than that, awesome device, the hardware is solid and reliable, purely a software issue.

    AirPort Express

    Excellent router

    THE best choice

I buy the AirPort Express more than a year ago and it was the best buy that I have make in terms of connectivity. I have it doing (at the same time):
    1) extending my wifi from the Modem/Router that provide my ISP,
    2) providing internet a desktop PC that doesn't had a wi-fi card,
    3) attach to it a Net HDD of Western Digital which I use to backup and access my files thru the internet,
    4) attach to it a 5.1 subwoofer of Logitech which allow me AirPlay my music from my iPhone,
    5) At some point (not anymore) I had plugged in a Printer (using the USB port) that didn't had wifi and allowed me to connect the printer to my wifi network

There have been moments where due to some actualization of the firmware o crashes of the modem of the ISP the Airport Express had to be reset it, but it have provided an excellent service since I buy it.

    No problems here

I'm sorry to read all the reviews by people who are having continual disconnects. I wonder if Apple's cut some corners since this current generation of AirPort Express came out, because I bought mine several years ago (in fact I only came to the site tonight to see if Apple had released an AirPort Express AC yet, as I'd like to have an all-AC network but don't want to fork out the $$ for another Extreme) and have not experienced the disconnect problems some people are reporting. My wifi network consists of one Airport Extreme AC whose connection is extended by an older dual-band Extreme N and one of this current generation of Expresses, and I experience zero spurious disconnects in months of continuous use. I have in the past had problems creating a network because my devices couldn't establish a connection with either the Extreme AC or the Express N, but I seem to have gotten past that somehow (don't remember how now - it was a long time ago) and I don't recall ever having a problem with any Apple router just up and dropping its connection without warning.

I keep the firmware updated on all my routers - I open AirPort Utility periodically just to see if there are any updates available - and wonder if that might have anything to do with it. Do the people experiencing disconnects keep their firmware updated? Maybe there are other conditions contributing, like proximity to other electronics? All wireless routers are purported to work better if they're not surrounded by other electronics that can interfere with the signal...

    Great Wifi Router and Repeater

I absolutely love this. It's small and strong! I live in a concrete house and getting a wifi signal to connect to the bedrooms is hard. I had this in my living room and it reached into my room. I got a second one to extend the signal to the back of my house.

    Favourably Impressed

I've had an Airport Express for what must be nearly 10 years. The other day it died. Hey, it's had a good life! So I bought another one to replace it.
I was impressed that I could set it up using my iPhone. So simple. But what's more, because I named the network the same as the one that died, and used the same password, all my phones, tablets and printers and PC's connected straight away, as if nothing had ever changed. Superb! I thought I was going to have to reintegrate all my devices separately. Bring back the Apple logo "It Just Works!"

Does what it says - and well!

My original airport express gave up the struggle after 8 or 9 years of sterling service. The 2nd gen was a doddle to set up - 10 mins from unboxing to completion. The 2nd ethernet port is very useful as I can now connect it to my modem over the home powerline network and still have a spare port to attach other devices. Couldn't live without Airplay, even being without it for a couple of days was too long!

Simple to set up, works perfectly

Happy to recommend. Simple to set up. It has definitely improved the WiFi signal in my first floor room. I use to drive my Naim amplifier from my Macbook Pro. Hard to fault.

Been using one for about a year...

Best router I've owned by far. In the year I've been using it haven't had to reset it once. A little disappointed by the lack of wireless AC support and actually bought a non apple $150 AC router to see if it would be worth the upgrade... Long story short I'm back to the express as the primary router for our home and it meets our needs. Internet speeds at around 70mbps in our home although I wish the range was a little better (Get outside of the house and the signal disappears) - if I were to upgrade it would be to the airport extreme, but I couldn't be happier with the reliability. Honestly the main reason why I will not ever buy another brand again after going through several others in the last few years (Linksys, Asus, Netgear) was the rock solid reliability offered by our little Apple router. Zero buyers remorse.

    The best router ever!!!

Before Airport Express I had a Linksys from Cisco, and it hardly speeded with 20-30 Mbps from 100 Mbps maximum (contractual). With the Airport Express I'm browsing the internet with around 90-95 Mbps which is excellent! Moreover, is small and very easy to configure, which makes it perfect for my living room.

    Wonderful Product

Please don't go by all the bad reviews about this product. It is a wonderful product. Brought one for home use and it'a been really improving my Wi-Fi speed. Quick and easy to setup using AIrPort Utility. Been also great for Printing. Have an AirPrint HP Printer which was so old it didn't work with my brand new MacBook Pro 15inch Mid 2015 model. After connecting it to my Base Station Wi-Fi (this product) I was able to start printing and using it on my new Mac. I highly recommend this product to anyone. Apple is a great company and makes great products.

    Great Extender

I bought this as an extender for my wifi outside. I have a ranch style house and the router is at the opposite of my back patio. Reception there is mediocre. I added the airport express and in less than 2 minutes from connecting with the app, we were up and operating. Everywhere outside is now speedy and hassle free. Don't know how it would work as a primary router, but as an extender it's rock on.

    used flawlessly for years

I bought my airport express back in 2013 and it has worked flawlessly ever since! it has streamed music to my old hifi, shared printers and now it acts as a guest wifi network. I love it! in fact, I'm tempted to upgrade it for the extreme for the shared hard drive facility (which is all is missing from the express)

    I have 3

The Airport Utility makes setup trivial. In less than 5 minutes I had a functioning wireless network. I bought two more and extended my network around and outside the house. This is awesome in the summer/spring time when I am sitting in the backyard sipping a cold brew or early morning coffee while reading on my iPad Air.

    Absolutely Excellent

I brought the AirPort Express with the intention to use in my student flat. I have tested it at home and it works well in quite a large house so I am looking forward to using this in a much smaller area and less devices. Thank you Apple!

    Apple Airport Express

I installed this unit as a wireless access point in my house (connected back to DSL router via ethernet). Works very well and easy to setup using Apple Airport Utility. Can't be faulted. Don't use in wireless extender mode, works best when connected via ethernet.
