    Maybe i've expected too high for this product from Apple

    I'm kind of Apple fan boy, happy with all of its products I've used so far expect this TC.
    Primary reason I decided to buy TC is to back-up my data: especially photos for which I traveled and spent a lot of time as it's my hobby.

    Unexpectedly, my TC worked for just over a year, then, began making a loud noise and overheat. Finally stop working expect still making the loud buzzing noise.I did not purchase Apple Care as I believed that kind of product was designed for long term usage and for sure not to be abused. it just sits on a desk and does its thing. This product should last longer than a year especially for more than 300 sgd.

    However, I still don't mind, went to service center, check the status. I won't still mind giving like 50% of brand new price to get it fixed (without losing my important data). Guess what, service center just replied in polite manner that they can't do anything expect exchanging the device (1 for 1) at almost 90% of brand new price. Frankly, I'll still pay for this price if they can recover all my data and exchange new one. Suggested that I can go for 3rd party service center. Normally I choose apple, pay for higher price as I don't want to get frustrated by these 3rd parties, well...well...

    Now, it seems like I don't have any option other than to showcase this TC on my desk as a decoration. Definitely, not worth the money and worst APPLE is not reliable for this product, Apple doesn't take any responsibility for this product literally. You're set on your own.

    not to recommend

    After 2 years my TC 2TB stopped to boot/work. Seems that the HD got some problems so the wifi part will also stop to work. Apple takes a huge amount of money for repair and I have the feeling this product is not made for 24/7 use.
    Buy a "normal" airport and use standard backup solutions. I still see a point using airport as a router especially if you want to extend your network, but the use of time capsule is just wasted money.

    DOES NOT JOIN EXISTING NETWORKS - RUBBISH!

    The new TC doesn't join existing networks. I only found this out when I opened the box and read the instructions. I already have an old 2TB version and expected this to work just the same . Rubbish concept. I am NOT going to plug this into my decent and excellent third party router and change over 3x iPhones, 3x iPads, 2x MacBook Airs, 2x ATVs, one additional speaker and an iMac because Apple decided to mess around with the specifications of originally an excellent concept.

    This is junk

    I hooked up my brand new Time Capsule and my Time machine took 24 hours to give me a disk error message. It is not as good a router as my AirPort extreme, so I disconnected it. I found that Apple has a 14 day return policy! Who does that? Is it even legal? I am disabled so this entire process was difficult, considering all of the set-up. Then I had to reverse the process to watch my Apple TV, etc. Everything about this purchase has been screwed up.

    One of the worst investments I've ever made

    I've spent hours and hours on the phone with tech support, I've extended the warranty, I've tried everything. I have made some great friends through our constant interactions with tech support, but can't get it working consistently. I have two time capsules and an airport express with a new Macbook Pro 15. I've been trying to get the network to work glitch free for years, but it's down as often as it's up and again, we've tried everything.

    Worked for just over a year

    Worked for just over a year, then, began making a loud whining noise. It still works, but I can't be in the same room with it. Took it to the Apple Store who said it couldn't be fixed and would likely stop working in the near future. I did not purchase Apple Care because the product was not likely to be abused. it just sits still on a desk top and does its thing. This product should last longer than a year especially for $300. Definitely, not worth the money.

    This is the worst thing I've ever bought

    I wanted to invest in a decent set of Wifi kit for my new home, so I bought the 3TB airport time capsule and an airport express extender to satisfy all of my wifi needs.
    For the first month or so things seemed to be fine. Then my Time Machine backups could no longer find the 3TB drive - and when I tried to access it from my finder I found it was there, but really slow to access folder, and would often come back with errors saying the drive was no longer available.
    So I switched off time machine and just used it as a network extender (and bought a cheap - but very reliable external Disk Drive that I plug into my mac).
    That worked for a couple of months, then I and my family started getting intermittent connectivity issues with the wifi. Sometimes while I was at work the wifi would be inaccessible all day. I tried powering down the airport time capsule and voila! any device that was in range of the other airport express worked perfectly.
    This is a massive disappointment - considering how overpriced these items are.
    I think my desire to remain entirely in the Apple eco-system is on the wane. Im off to buy some better/cheaper networking kit, and Ive replaced my new IPhone 6 plus with a Nexus 6P

    Rubbish!!

    Having read the reviews i was encouraged by the ease of the setup and usability. Little did I know that it would take 5 days and a long phone call with apple support to set it up! (The apple support guy was very good in the end, hence the 1 star!!). Finally it was working along side my bt router and not instead of the bt router, but i have persevered. Since then it has taken 11 hours to back up 4GB of data!! As I have 1 TB of data to back up,myself and the equipment will very old by the time it is complete. I expected much more from an Apple product and I'm very disappointed with it. Do NOT waste £249!!!!

    Worst Apple product

    Definitely the worst Apple product I've ever owned. I only bought it for the wireless time machine backups. It worked fine for awhile. Forgot that it was on regular backups (which is the point!) and came back to check one day and it hadn't been backing up. Can't get it to backup wirelessly anymore. Forced to use it as a USB hard drive now. Bought it brand new less than a year ago.

    3TB in fact

    well, like a lot of other people I thought I would be able to use this for storage. It's rubbish, really - the only benefit I get from it is being able to print wirelessly. Big, fat, expensive near albatross. Silly me for getting one. Wake up, Apple - we want control over our own stuff.

    disappointed

    This is the first apple product that I am really disappointed about. I wanted to upgrade my existing airport extreme to a Time Capsule so that I would have a wireless router with wireless HDD functionality. I spent 3 hours trying to overcome the self-assigned IP address issue but couldn't so I gave it back. I exchanged it for a regular Airport Extreme, which had the exact same issue, although I was able to fix it. Apple please fix this.

    DO NOT BUY IF YOU VALUE YOUR DATA

    True Story - This week i did the El Capitan update before checking if my Audio interface would be compatible and unfortunately it wasn't. So the only option, aside from buying a new sound card, was to revert back to Yosemite. This is actually pretty straightforward in principle, but requires restoring from a back up. No problem as i have a time capsule that has backed up several times a day since i bought it 3 months ago. When i needed it the most, the backups could not be found on the time capsule despite being on the phone for about 3 hours with Apple support. I now need a data recovery specialist, at my expense, to recover the data. DO NOT BUY, THIS PRODUCT IS NOT RELIABLE.

    Time Machine

    My Time Capsule, the second one, has died. It was unreliable at best, now it is dead. Looking online, Time Capsules are not reliable.

    Always turns off

    Can I please get a refund? I tried to give this product multiple chances, over the year it constantly goes offline and turns off, and is seriously unreliable. For the price and compare to the quality Apple provides in products, this is by far one of the worst products and needs to be recalled. I love Apple, and have been loyal with iPhones, iPad, Apple TV and my Mac Book Pro, but this was the biggest disappointment, I've lost data and wasted my money. Can I trade it in or something? It's been almost a year, now it fails every day.

    Failed after just over a year

    I purchased this $300 time capsule brand new in Sep 2014 and everything was working fine. I am not a power user, I do not demand a lot from my devices, however this Time Capsule stopped working just outside of the warranty coverage, and apple will not do anything about it. I paid over $300 considering tax and expected something this expensive to last more than a year. I am extremely disappointed and urge you to not purchase this and take your money elsewhere.

    Easy to use just not for as long as you would think.

    Bought the airport, set it up easily, used it with no problems for over a year, then totally dead. No warning of impending failure. It just went kaput. I expect more out of a device that paid more than three hundred dollars. I love apple and most of their products but reading up on this device I realized I made a mistake.

    Bad Choice

    After years of Airport Extreme use, I replaced my working device with this Time Capsule. Big mistake. It interferes with my micro-cell device and slows my internet speed by 30%. No amount of re-jiggering with Apple Care techs fixes the problem. Very disappointing. It seems to be an Apple firmware problem but it is not possible to down-grade the firmware to an earlier, workable version.

    Expensive piece of worthless junk

    It is super slow to transfer and even browse files. Horrible Wi-Fi, iPad and iPhone could not connect to the network, had to revert to my old Airport Express.

    Product Defective

    I really wanted the device to work, but that was not the case. I could not set up the device through the Airport Utility, it continued to say that there was an unexpected error. I was able to connect with my iPhone and set it up, but only the WiFi worked. Sent hours trying to figure it out. Worst Apple product experience I've had, and I've had a lot of Apple products. It was returned today.

    A colossal (and expensive) piece of junk

    2TB Time Capsule: Wireless capabilities disappeared shortly after purchase (were intermittent for a while) and now it doesn't even connect when physically plugged in via an ethernet cable to my MBP. Extremely disappointed in such an expensive HDD. Save your money and buy something else!
