Good wireless access point however ....

I bought it couple years ago (actually two of them) and it used to work great, no problems whatsoever however after last firmware update it disconnects all my wireless devices 2-3 times a week! All you can do then is restart the time capsule. Please fix it Apple as its not reliable anymore.

    An overpriced gadget that works...

I've been using this TC for almost 2 years now, it is installed in the basement and the signal is something close to strong even in the second floor.
Is this device easy to install? It is. plug and just works in a few seconds.
Speed? well if you have the newest mac that take advantage of the wireless "ac" you will notice a considerable bump on the speed.
Is this device reliable?. While I had some issues of random disconnection once in a while, nothing that "restart base station" from Airport utility on OS X doesn't fix. In terms of hard drive, where the very high price lies on, it is a Seagate, if you trust on this brand go ahead. After a few unfortunate accidents where my data was compromised I take no chances and I keep a WD duo 4TB to backup this backup. Call me exaggerated, but losing years of pictures ain't funny!.
I've recently bought an apple TV and the feature of airplay really sucked. I've got an old airport extreme from eBay that extended my network, but even that the signal wasn't strong enough. Sad. I've returned the apple TV.
Would I buy this again? probably no... some used airport extreme and a more reliable hard drive bought separately would be cheaper and better.

Works well if on Mac, but little ability on IOS, including file Sharing!!!

WTF Apple... You don't have an app or native IOS integration with Time Capsule for file sharing, or really anything beyond configuring a network connection?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, back up IOS to iTunes on your Mac, then back up to the Time Capsule is a hack way of addressing backups (and you know this is a hack way that won't poach on your iCloud business). So, backups are kinda, sorta, taken care of but not really the nice 'Apple way' we would expect here.

Either way, without a 3rd party app, you can't access files on the Time Capsule. Works great when you're isolated to a Mac.

Come on Apple, step up here.

    Why no SNMP?

The only drawback is that "upgrading" to this model meant I lost the long-used functionality of SNMP for tracking network usage. Come on Apple, why did you remove such a fundamental industry standard?

not high speed intermittent access - spins down too soon

the signal strength is improved over the previous model, but the "power save" feature means a 5 second delay every time I go back to the network.
my morning workflow I grab a file, work on it about 2 mins, then save and grab the next one. the disk spins down in between. aargh !

    Bad outside, great inside

Like a few have mentioned here, white is horrible and clashes with everything, even your other black and silver Apple products. So I got (non metallic) paint and fixed it.

Get it together Apple, you make NOTHING else white except the worst selling color of phones. Make this match!

Five stars for the software, minus two for the awkward design and color, usually Apple's forte, so a little disappointed.

Not that different from prior ones

We expanded our network with this product. The time capsule feature is prone to repeated malfunction. Apple stores keeps replacing. The time capsules are apples poorest products, such a pity. Hopefully they will revolutionize this product and make it better.

    Glorified NAS & AP.

But, ever since I got the new AirPort Time Capsule - 3TB. My wireless connection has been dropping a lot. I have set static IPs for all my devices that come in and out of range of the time capsule.
    positives:
-The compact size and being vertical is great and nice to look at in my IT room.
-set up was easy from an existing AirPort Time Capsule. migrating settings was a breeze.
    negatives:
-wished there was a way to monitor data, websites being visited, ect. for devices connected to it. ie, Sonic Wall. If Apple continues to expect us to pay $400 for an AP. It should have more capabilities.
