Very poor quality - spend your $$$$$ elsewhere

Bought this case for both my wife's iPad and mine. First gen case was much better. After a year both of our iPads would fall out of the case when holding it. Never mind when it hits the floor. Much better options elsewhere.

I guess apple is more concerned about stock prices at this point. $100!!!!!!!!

    Terrible - What a ripoff

Volume doesn't align, camera cutout doesn't align. Terrible!

    Terrible design

How can you sell a case specifically designed and labeled for an iPad Air that has a hole cutout for the camera that does not align with an iPad Air?!?!
Very upset. Returning this case ASAP. Not even close to the standard I expected for an apple branded case that cost $80!
    I would love a response.

New case a disappointment. My old one works great. Mad Apple sold it.

Purchased a smart case for my iPad shortly after receiving the iPad as a gift a couple years ago.
It was a great case. Fit was good on the old case. However the color was light and showed all the dirt.
Today, replaced my smart case for a new one, but in black. Put my iPad in and could only see
half of the picture I was taking. The hole for the camera does not line up.
When I went on line to check out the cases I was mad to find out Apple already had complaints
about this case and yet they continue to sell it. It's not cheap and should not be sold. It is an inferior product.
Thought maybe it was just a bad batch. But obvious it's not as the inferior cases are still being sold.
Take your iPad with you when you buy a case.
Apple seems to hav always prided themselves in their products. Perhaps they had this new Smart Case
    Made by someone else.
Dug my old one out of the trash to put on my iPad back in. It's dirty but still works.

    Not great

While the cover looks good, it's not practical, the camera is not alligned correctly with the cover, it's very hard to plug in the cable to charge and it doesn't stand up correctly. Won't be buying again.

Apple needs to go back to the drawing board.

I have been a devoted Apple customer for over a decade and typically very happy with all of my past purchases. Until now. This cover worked as designed for about a week. Now, it is almost impossible to touch the screen without it disconnecting from the unit when in the upright position. Way too expensive for a sub-par accessory. I do not recommend this product.

    Just Purchased

Not a seamless fit but sufficient. Fit where cover meets the case isn't seamless. Lightweight and feels durable but won't know for awhile. I would wait if you're not sure. Will have more choices no doubt. Will collapse if pushed when using stand. Light gestures ok but use both hands to be sure. Probably will last if handled with some care. Not good if used daily and thrown about.

Rip off and waste of money

This case just doesn't hold up. It is expensive, but gets loose very quickly. I would strongly advise against purchasing it.

    3+ years later

I bought this cover when I bought my New iPad (3rd Generation). I wanted something that would protect the screen but not cover the back to allow air for cooling. After more than 3 years the cover still looks good and works flawlessly. I will get this cover again when I purchase a new Pad.

    Beauty is only skin deep

My leather iPad smart case and my wife's iPad mini smart case are not durable at all. They look good and fit snugly for a few months and then begin to deteriorate. I'm on my second case. The first one split open at the seams after a year and shortly after that would let the iPad pop out because it was no longer snug. The 2nd case is barely 6 months old and already starting to show signs of wear and not holding the iPad firmly. Likewise my wife's mini case at under a year old is beginning to get loose around the iPad and is showing signs of extreme wear. These aren't cheap accessories. Do yourself a favor and buy a less expensive off brand case. Even if you get only a year out of it, you're further ahead by ending much less money on it.

By contrast we still have an older 1st gen iPad that the kids use with an apple case. That case is of much better quality than the newer ones. It's still sturdy and blemish free after 4 years and shows no appreciable signs of wear.

    Up to snuff

This case has served my iPad mini well for 2 years. Outside buttons work well. Develops a nice patina. Good to touch.

wears out too quickly, especially for $79

I've had this Smart Case for less than 9 months, and it's already worn out. The cover doesn't align with the iPad, and therefore will go into a restart mode... really annoying.

I've had it for more than a year.

I am looking to purchase another case because of its minimalist features. Very basic. Doesn't add weight to the iPad so much that it is uncomfortable or noticeable. Apple, it would be cool if the cover could be magnetized to the back when folded open. Could this happen?

When it comes to using the cover for a stand, it took a few weeks to break it in enough so that it would sit well without falling. But I do like the simplistic design of utilizing the cover as a stand.

"Price vs What you get" - In this instance, I don't believe the price is worth the quality. I could understand 39.99. In my humble opinion, $80 for an iPad case that wears to the point that it becomes clunky to use is really annoying.

Apple has always priced their products in a premium fashion. However, most of those products are good for a long time. Longer than 16 months.

    An adequate case

After reading the reviews for this, I decided to buy it even though many were complaining about the flimsiness of the upright standing. It is better than I expected, but not amazing. I've used the Smart Cover for an older iPad and it is much sturdier. I will keep this though. I rarely use the upright stand position, and as long as you don't push your iPad, it will stay standing. Otherwise, it's a pretty good case.

I hope apple reads these reviews

I bought this case without reading the reviews and they couldn't be more right. The case doesn't stand upright because of the poor design! I hated spending this much on this case but I thought it would be the best, but it isn't. Apple needs to read these reviews and fix these cases. I'm taking mine back.

    This Case Saved My iPad!

I am so glad I got this case when I ordered my iPad Air 2. I have only had the iPad for a week and it fell and dropped face down from my computer desk onto a hardwood floor. I bumped my chair into it when I was turned around and herd a big bang. I was immediately worried and freaking out as I just bought it and its my first iPad and it's not even paid for as I did a payment plan.

Picked it up and opened the case and luckily the iPad is unharmed. Still in perfect condition. Good thing I had the case closed. I believe if I didn't have a case on it the screen would of broke. Was very lucky and will need to be more careful in the future.

Thank you smart case! I love my iPad! Whew...

    Very poor

The camera cutout on the black case is totally misaligned and obscures half the image you are trying to capture. We bought this back in January and only recently had a reason to test the camera while on a weekend getaway. The only way to use the camera feature is to remove it from the case and that is a battle. The volume controls are also misaligned. For the price of this Apple branded product I would expect better quality control. Shame on Apple. Don't waste your money and check out the much cheaper knock offs.

    Black Case Not

I purchase this case believing it would properly hold the ipad, If I touch the ipad while in the upright position it falls each time.

    iPad air smart case

Very disappointed not worth the $79.00 spent for case. Very hard time keeping iPad propped up case keeps collapsing when touched. Feel like Apple could put out a better product.

    Good coverage, lacks functionality

Because of the raised edges, the cover of the case doesn't cover uniformly at the the hinge. The case only succeeds in fully protecting the entire back and sides of the iPad. As far as functionality, there is little. Anyone with the smart cover knows there is a folded viewing position and writing position. This case work just as well as the smart cover in the writing position but is absolutely useless, as mentioned in other reviews, as a viewing stand. Why? No matter how well folded the cover is, the iPad falls and the tiniest breath. Completely useless.
