    Best speakers I've ever owned

Great sound, great cable management. They simply work, without a lot of unruly wires protruding or taking too much space.

A full sound in a small enclosure

    • Written by from Brooklyn

These were delivered today and I wanted to test them with both vocals and stringed instruments. So firstly, I listened to Ali Farka Touré & Toumani Diabaté's album 'Ali and Toumani'.

If you don't know these Malian musicians, Diabaté is probably the world's greatest Kora player and his plucking really shines through on these speakers. The overall sound is warm, yet all the string instruments are clear and well defined. Creates a great stage. I was very impressed.

For vocals, I next played Lana Del Rey's album, 'Ultraviolence'. This singer has a breathy style to some of her vocals with full orchestration on some tracks, and oh boy, does her voice come alive through these little gems. On some tracks you can even hear her breathing control.

Truly an amazing pair of speakers for a modest price. Highly recommended.

These MM-1s are cut from the 'same cloth' as their 800-series 'big brothers' .. The MM-1s are detailed, crisp, perfectly tonally balanced & portray a satisfying bass-to-treble response .. they do get better with approx. 100 hrs of burning-in & am speaking this being a B&W 801 & 802 owner for 24 yrs. Respect the MM-1s for what they are & they'll pay you back 'many folds' with utter clean, quality performance time-&-time again !! Bravo Bowers & Wilkins !! Highly recommended (if you're genuinely interested in top-notch music performance). A small word of caution - although they do their own processing, playing thru Apple macbook pro or Apple products is indeed beneficial.

Hands Down The Very Best Ipod Speakers On The Planet

    • Written by from Salem

I recieved my Zeppelin as a gift last Christmas 2011. We set it up to recieve streaming music from my PC Itunes library. It also wroks flawlessly with my Ipad 2, Ipod Classic and my Itouch. Of course the very 1st music we listened to was Led Zeppelin. It was like having the boys play right in our living room. I also have a Bose Portable and the Kicker for Ipods. My Zeppelin leaves all of them in the dust. Not even a hint of distortion no matter how loud we play it. It is my pride and joy. I have a home theater starting with Klipsch Heresys with 2 subs, 1 Klipsch & 1 Velodyne. All of the surround speakers are Klipch. I would sooner part with my home theater speakers and replace them all with my Zeppelin. It is by far the best sound I have heard in a very long time. As a university student I previewed the JB Lansing Paragon speaker system. I like the clarity and definition of the Zeppelin Air, better. I'm in love with The Zeppelin Air !

    Speakers fantastic / Remote ridiculous

    • Written by from Long Beach

On the speakers alone, I would definitely have given this 5 stars, but the idiotically-designed Remote ruins that top rating. What possessed someone at B&W to come up with so stupid a design? It never stays flat on your desk but rather rolls around at the slightest touch... so much so that you have to carefully check it out visually to figure out which end is Up so as to know where a specific control is. Dumb and completely counter-intuitive. Clearly, they make no attempt to buy into the whole Apple ethos of design. I wrote them about this. They have no alternative and didn't seem interested in ever developing one. In their minds, it's just fine the way it is. I will definitely keep the speakers because of the excellent sound, but that remote drives me crazy every time I use it.

WHEN these speakers work they sound great. However, every single time I upgrade anything these speakers crash and it takes an incredibly long time and trouble to get them work again. I am so sorry that I spent $500 on something that works so poorly.

Speaker look better than they sound

    • Written by from Milwaukee

I got these for Christmas and was really disappointed.
No depth, all this money and real tinny sound.
I would NOT recommend these to anybody I know.

First challenge twisting back off from remote. Very tough to do. Secondly instrux never tell you that you have to download software. Even then couldn't get sound to come out, but remote worked wonderfully for Mac speakers! Don't need a $500 remote.

    sexy. but...

    • Written by from PORTAGE

i bought these for my office at my production building as i loved the design. a few days later i was in an electronics store and took a listen to the Bose system 5 as it was almost the same price. the Bose comes with an subwoofer which sits on the floor under my desk while the B&O are only desk top. i played them both and the B&O went back the next day. no comparison.
