What is the AppleCare Advance Replacement Service for iPhone?
The AppleCare Advance Replacement Service (ARS) for iPhone is a service option that is designed to reduce the amount of time you are without an iPhone. Normally, when requesting mail-in service, you must first send your iPhone to Apple before receiving a replacement. With ARS, Apple will ship you a replacement iPhone as soon as you request it, then you send your original phone to Apple. Your replacement iPhone will be new or refurbished.How long will it take to receive my replacement iPhone?
Your replacement iPhone will arrive approximately two to three business days after you request it from Apple.How long can I keep my original iPhone before I must return it to Apple?
To avoid incurring a late fee, you must return your iPhone so that Apple receives it within 10 days of shipping the replacement iPhone to you (“Return Period”). When you request service, you pay the ARS Charge shown in the table above. This charge is waived if your iPhone is covered by the AppleCare Protection Plan.Also, when you request service, Apple will place a reserve on your credit card for the Replacement Value of a new iPhone. This covers any damage to or loss of your iPhone that is not covered by Apple’s warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan, or other payments that may be due.
When does Apple release the Replacement Value reserve from my credit card?
Apple will release the Replacement Value reserve from your credit card if Apple receives your original iPhone within 10 days of shipping the replacement to you AND if Apple determines that your original iPhone is eligible for service under the warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan.Under what circumstances would Apple charge me the Replacement Value?
Apple will charge you the Replacement Value either if Apple does not receive your original iPhone within 10 days of shipping the replacement to you, OR if Apple receives your original, determines that is ineligible for service under the warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan AND it is ineligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) service.
For example, an iPhone that has failed due to damage or liquid damage is eligible for OOW service. However, certain damage is ineligible for OOW service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications.
Under what circumstances would Apple charge me the Out-of-Warranty Service Fee?
Apple will charge you the Out-of-Warranty Service Fee if Apple receives your original iPhone and determines that is not eligible for service under the warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan, but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service.What if my original iPhone arrives at Apple a few days late? Will I still have to pay the Replacement Value or the Out-of-Warranty Service Fee?
If Apple receives your original iPhone more than 10 days but fewer than 20 days after shipping the replacement to you, and if the iPhone is eligible for service under the warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan, Apple will issue you a credit for the Replacement Value less the Late Fee. Advance Replacement Out-of-Warranty Service is available for iPhones that are repairable, but aren't covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan.Will I have to pay any other charges?
If Apple does not receive your original iPhone within 10 days of shipping the replacement to you, or if Apple receives it and determines that it is ineligible for Out-of-Warranty service, you will be charged the Cover Charge. The Cover Charge is the difference between the Replacement Value of a new iPhone and the Out-of-Warranty Service Fee. This is in addition to the ARS Charge and the Out-of-Warranty Service Fee that you paid when requesting service.Certain damage is ineligible for Out-of-Warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications.

Yes, Apple will send you the same model with the same specifications as the iPhone you originally purchased. The replacement iPhone may be new or refurbished.Will I be able to load my content from my original iPhone to the replacement iPhone?
Yes, simply sync your replacement iPhone with your computer using iTunes. Data that you synced from your original iPhone to iTunes will now sync to the replacement phone.Will I have to activate my replacement iPhone?
No, there is no need to activate the replacement iPhone. Simply transfer the SIM card from your original iPhone to the replacement. Then sync your replacement iPhone with iTunes while connected to the Internet. After that, you will be able to make calls, receive calls, and use all other iPhone features.
