SubEthaEdit 3.1

About SubEthaEdit
A collaborative distributed text editor, combining the simplicity of TextEdit and the power of Bonjour. It allows you to share documents on a local network or on the internet. Every participating user can type simultaneously and see what others are typing. You can even follow others users to see what they are up to.

The idea of collaborative editing has been researched for years, with notable results. But now, for the first time it has been implemented in a way you actually want to use. Using Mac OS X unique Bonjour feature you don’t have to configure servers and clients. It’s as easy as editing a local file — just drag in your collaborators and type away.

Working with SubEthaEdit is easy and secure. All network traffic is encrypted using 2048 Bit SSL encryption. Automatic port mapping using NAT-PMP or UPnP and friendcasting make collaborating over the internet as easy as using Bonjour locally. To make things even simpler SubEhtaEdit allows you to just drag your iChat buddies into the document to start collaborating.

What’s New in this Version
- NAT-Traversal: SubEthaEdit now automatically maps its port so it can be reached from anywhere on the internet.
- iChat Invites: Documents and the Connection Browser allow drag and drop of iChat Buddies to invite them. (iChat invites only work on Mac OS X 10.5)
- Friendcasting: if you activate Friendcasting you get automatic connections to the friends of your friends. In a typical company/group setup one publicly reachable SubEthaEdit will be enough to act as friend to connect everyone to each other.
- Many more enhancements.
