About BetterZip
BetterZip lets you quickly inspect an archive without first extracting its contents. You can add or extract files via drag-and-drop or delete files from archives. With the click of a button BetterZip can strip Mac specific files and folders, e.g., resource forks or Finder settings, from zip files and tar balls for best compatibility with Windows or Linux systems.

BetterZip handles archives with these formats: zip, sit, tar, gzip, bzip2, rar, 7-zip, BinHex, MacBinary, cpio, arj, lzh/lha, cab, iso, chm, and a few more. BetterZip lets you quickly preview images, PDF, HTML, and text files in a drawer without the need for starting external programs.

What’s New in this Version
- BetterZip now uses pbzip2 for BZip2 compression. This parallel version can utilize multiple CPU cores resulting in faster compression.
- Showing and hiding columns can now be done through a contextual menu accessed by clicking on the header of the main table like in iTunes or other programs.
- Added optional header encryption for 7-zip and rar formats. Select this option in the save panel in the pop-up button “Encryption method”.
- Many more enhancements.
