About Samba
An open source/free software suite that provides seamless file and print services to SMB/CIFS clients. Samba is freely available under the GNU General Public License.

Samba consists of two key programs: smbd and nmbd. They implement the four basic modern-day CIFS services, which are:
- File and print services
- Authentication and authorization
- Name resolution
- Service announcement (browsing)

What’s New in this Version
- The default passdb backend has been changed to 'tdbsam'!
- Samba4 and Samba3 sources are included in the tarball
- Changed the way smbd handles untrusted domain names given during user authentication.
- Various fixes including printer change notificiation for Samba spoolss print servers.
- Many more enhancements.
