Create and publish polished documents

Students and teachers are amazed at how simple it is to produce beautifully designed documents with Pages, part of the iWork ’08 productivity suite. From traditional essays to complex term papers, complete with charts, tables, bibliographies, and footnotes — Pages turns any writing assignment into a fun and creative way for students to publish their work.

Pages is two great tools in one. Students can choose to work in word processing or page layout mode. To begin, they select from more than 140 Apple-designed templates — or open a blank document to design their own.

Express knowledge with text, photos, and more

To add text, students click a template’s placeholder text and start typing. Adding a photo is just as simple — they drag the image from the Media Browser to a placeholder on the page and it instantly appears in the same size and orientation as the placeholder image it replaced. Text fluidly wraps around images and images can be framed, edited, and resized right in Pages.

The new context-sensitive format bar always puts the most logical tools within easy reach. For example, when working with text, font, size, and alignment tools are presented; when an image is selected, image adjustment tools appear.

In addition to text and photos, Pages documents can include charts and tables that fit with the document’s design. And to polish their work, students can use the spelling and proofreading tools.

Support for collaboration

Pages supports all stages of the writing process. For example, students can produce detailed outlines to use as the basis for a first draft. With Comments and the new Change Tracking tools, students can easily provide feedback on each other’s work. Pages also enables students to share documents with Microsoft Word users and track changes made in either application.

Pages can readily import documents from many different applications, including Microsoft Word and AppleWorks. Pages documents can be exported in a variety of formats, including PDF, Microsoft Word, RTF, and plain text.

Students are proud to share their beautifully designed documents with others, while teachers appreciate the valuable class time saved with the application’s easy-to-use features.
