The Device Enrollment Program (DEP) helps your institution get up and running quickly by automating enrollment into your MDM server. No further setup is required to enroll. So you can rest assured that your institution’s devices are properly configured without the need for staging services before deployment.

With the Device Enrollment Program, you can choose to supervise iOS devices. Supervision, an iOS-only feature, provides a higher level of device management, allowing additional restrictions such as turning off iMessage or Game Center — as well as other device configurations and features such as web content filtering and Single App Mode.

Whether your institution–owned devices are purchased directly from Apple or through participating Apple Authorized Resellers and carriers, in just a few simple steps you can get started using the Device Enrollment Program.

Create a Apple Deployment Programs account by providing basic information about your institution. You’ll also need to provide your Apple Customer Number for purchases made directly from Apple or a DEP Reseller ID for purchases made through participating Apple Authorized Resellers and carriers.


Once the servers are set up, you can choose to assign devices to them by Apple order number or by serial number. You can also automatically assign all future orders to a specific MDM server.

Set Up.

Create different administrative accounts to manage device enrollments for your organization. You can set up administrators for the entire organization, or just by department. Create entries for your MDM servers.


Create user profiles in your MDM server. When the user completes Setup Assistant, the device will be automatically enrolled in MDM and configured with the proper settings. Use your MDM server to provide ongoing device and content management.
