Explore a Canadian Rainforest

Wait a minute. Canada has a rainforest?

It sure does. Between the north end of Vancouver Island and the Alaska border, the Great Bear Rainforest sprawls among a maze of islands and inlets, comprising a delicate coastal temperate ecosystem that’s about the size of two Switzerlands. Sadly, despite the area’s wilderness location and its inaccessibility, the rainforest is ecologically threatened.

Greenpeace International has sponsored a website that presents the Great Bear Rainforest in all its splendor. Using QuickTime VR, you can navigate through maps to tour landscapes and the forest floor of this breathtaking and rarely-seen wilderness. Visit to discover all its hidden natural wonders, including wolves, eagles, salmon, and bears.

Trailer Park

Trailer Park It’s a screwball animated comedy with an attitude, and the plot goes something like this: The heartless ruler Lord Farquaad has spoiled all the fun by ejecting fairy tale characters from the land of Duloc. To put things right, enter Shrek — an oafish ogre with a heart of gold — and his obstreperous donkey sidekick. Can they repatriate the fairy tale refugees as well as rescue the fair Princess Fiona from ending up with the nasty Lord?

Based on a well-loved children’s book by William Steig, “Shrek” features the voices of John Lithgow, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz. It’s now open in U.S. theaters everywhere.

And that’s not all — check out “Shrek: Behind the Scenes” for comments by the actors who portray the film’s irreverent animated characters.

Travolta Wields “Swordfish”
This summer’s “Swordfish” isn’t part of a perfect storm, but part of an attempted perfect crime.

Gabriel Shear (John Travolta)—a flashy covert operative—seeks to steal a secret cache of $6 billion in unused government funds (code named “Project Swordfish”) to bankroll a right-wing militia.

To pull off a bank heist of this magnitude, he needs help from superhacker Stanley Jobson (Hugh Jackman) to crack into the bank’s computers. In exchange, Shear will help Jobson regain custody of his daughter and start a new life. But Jobson has just been released from federal prison and is a bit unwilling to risk everything he has for someone else’s sinister scheme.

“Swordfish” opens in U.S. theaters on June 8
