Mother Nature Blows Her Top

Etna Erupts in QuickTime “We are fighting an enemy which is much stronger than man.” So says Sicilian government commissioner Nello Musumeci — and no, he’s not talking about the simians from “Planet of the Apes.” Musumeci’s nemesis is none other than Mt. Etna. As you may have heard, Italy’s famed volcano has been on a rampage, consuming ski lifts and tourist stations unlucky enough to be in the path of its molten lava.

View spectacular video footage of Etna’s most recent eruptions on CNN’s website.

And watch impressive video clips of Etna's past ebullient emissions, shot in 1998.
