Wasn’t There” is a paean to the American film noir genre.
In this dark-yet-comic morality play, Billy Bob Thornton turns in a
low-key (and distinctly Bogartesque) performance as Ed Crane, a
laconic small-town California barber who blackmails his wife’s boss
after he discovers the two of them are having an affair. Before
long, Crane’s scheme spirals out of control, setting in motion an
unexpected series of consequences.
“The Man Who Wasn’t There” will delight fans of classic 1940s-style
crime thrillers. Watch for it in U.S. theaters on November 9.
