Still amazed at the quality of the video you see on your flat-panel
iMac? The smoothness? The clarity? The color saturation?
You can credit some of that stunning graphics performance to the
brilliant LCD display; some to the fact that in the iMac, the
graphics are all-digital all the time. And lets not overlook the
contribution of the new graphics processor we use in iMac: the
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX.
Great for game players, the GeForce2 MX offers outstanding 3D
performance, and when the next major version of Mac OS X ships this
summer, your iMac will be able to take advantage of one of its
exciting new features: Quartz Extreme.
How will you benefit from Quartz Extreme?

Keynoting at last weeks 2002 National Education Computing
Conference (NECC) in San Antonio, TX, Lily Tomlin admits she was
more into cheerleading than attendance when she was in high school.
But Tomlin certainly got an education at the conference, learning
all about the newest products and services Apple has introduced
specifically for students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
They include not only such hardware products as eMac (our most
affordable PowerPC G4 system ever) and Xserve (Apples
groundbreaking new rackmount server), but also new versions of
PowerSchool (the industrys leading web-based student information
system), Apple Digital Campus Curriculum (which offers rich,
project-based curricula), and the Apple Learning Interchange (a new
online resource for teaching, learning, research, and collaboration).

Two words: iMovie and iPhoto, exclaimed one writer. Theres
nothing else like themanywhere! In every aspect these two
applications sealed the deal.
Just one of the thousands of people who have written to tell us
about their experiences switching from the PC to the Macswitching,
he said, was about as painless as a haircuthis letter was so
enjoyable, we had to share it with you. We think his sentiments
about iMovie, iPhoto, and Mac OS X will resonate with many of you.
Were still reading the email youve submitted and plan to post more
of your comments in the days and weeks ahead, so stop by and read

You may be a photographer yourself, or you may simply have a handful
of digital images youve collected over the yearse.g., landscapes,
portraits, still lifes, sports.
Place the images you most enjoy in your Pictures folder, and you can
tell Mac OS X to use one of them as your Desktop Picture. Heres
how: pull down the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, and click
the Desktop icon.
Then choose Pictures folder from the Collections drop-down menu. The
images you dropped in your Pictures Folder will appear, and you need
only click to select your Desktop Picture. Best of all, you can
change it as often as youd like.

Enjoy having options? No wonder you like working on a Mac.
Take, for example, choosing an image to use as your Desktop Picture.
Yes, you can use System Preferences to select an image for your
desktop, as we described above.
Or you can use iPhoto.
The latest versioniPhoto 1.1.1lets you choose an image from your
growing collection of digital photos to use as your Desktop Picture.
And youll find the directions for doing so right on your Mac. In
the Finder, pull down the Help menu, choose Mac Help, and click on

For many of us, creating playlists is a passion unto itself. Add a
song here. Change the order there. And tweaking one playlist often
helps you to realize the absolute need for another playlist on yet
another musical theme.
Yes, iTunes is an audiophiles delight.
But, has this ever happened to you? No sooner do you get your playlist
to the point of exquisite perfection than you realize there are too
many songs to fit on an audio CD.
Not to worry. With iTunes, you have the option of burning not only
audio CDs but MP3 CDs, as well. And you can fit over 12 hours of
music on an MP3 CD.
Like to know how to create one?
