In America is the story of an Irish family who moves to New York City to make a fresh start after the death of one of their children. Told through the eyes (and words) of the ten-year-old daughter, the story traces the familys journey from grief to the discovery of hope and wonder in America and their downtrodden tenement home. In America opens in select cities on November 26, but you can enjoy the first six minutes of the movie now exclusively in QuickTime.

The dramatic and fascinating world of late-19th-century Japan was meticulously recreated for the upcoming film The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise. These breathtaking locations and sets were captured as QuickTime VR panoramas that you can explore in depth. As you move around the ancient village, boat dock, or ships cabin, listen to production designer Lilly Kilvert explain the challenges and delights of creating each set. Afterwards, you can watch scenes from the film that take place in each location accompanied by music from the movie. (And dont worry, there are no spoilers here.) Want more? Set in late-19th-century New Mexico, The Missing stars Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones, and is directed by Ron Howard. It opens on November 26.
Its the perfect introduction to animation. Using clay, toys, or
other objects, just about anyone can create time-lapse or
stop-motion animated movies using a DVD camcorder and an application
called iStopMotion.
Its such a terrific application that the developer, Boinx Software, won first place in OReillys 2003 Mac OS X Innovators Contest in the International category. Want some inspiration?
