What are digests, and what are their advantages?
A digest is a compilation of messages on a particular topic. Digests are especially convenient for users who would rather receive one long e-mail than many short ones. Our digests are delivered at least once a day, guaranteeing that messages wont be held longer than a few hours.
When you subscribe to an Apple-operated list (other than Apple eNews, iMac Update, and QuickTime News), youll have the option of choosing either the digest or the regular version. We recommend that you choose the digest version of the list you subscribe to. About 90% of our users prefer digests.
If you would rather receive each message individually, however, you can change your preference at any time by unsubscribing from the digest form of the list and subscribing to the message form. See the list instructions for details on how to do this.
Im going on vacation. How do I stop receiving e-mail from the mailing list until I return?
Unsubscribe from the list while you are out of town, and then subscribe again when you return. If you are using a vacation program or mailbot, make sure that you set it up not to respond to mailing list messages. These programs automatically respond to e-mails with a message saying youre away. If your program automatically responds to list postings, however, your subscription to the mailing list will be cancelled. Read more about vacation programs and other automatic mail programs. [Top]
I am unable to post a message to the mailing list Ive subscribed to.
This usually happens because your e-mail address has changed. If your address changes even slightly, the list server will no longer recognize you, even if your mail is being forwarded. Update your mailing list subscriptions whenever your e-mail address changes, rather than relying on mail forwarding. If youre unable to post a message to your mailing list, unsubscribe from the list, or ask the administrator to unsubscribe for you, and then resubscribe with your new address. [Top]

Im trying to filter my mail lists. How do I tell which list a message is from?
Filters permit you to place your mail in specified folders, or to sort and prioritize mail automatically. In general, you use the Sender header to do this. For example, on the Sender line of the Apple-Net-Announce mailing list, you will see this: owner-apple-net-announce@public.lists.apple.com. Set up your program to check the Sender line for the word that follows owner. That will allow you to filter your messages according to the list they come from.
I havent unsubscribed from my list, but Im not getting mail. Why not?
Your mail is probably bouncing that is, being returned to the sender. E-mail can bounce for a variety of reasons, such as a computer problem, a network disruption, or a full mailbox. If messages going to you from a mailing list bounce continually, the list administrator places your address on a special list called Bounces. Once a day, for five days, you will receive a notice explaining that your mail has been bouncing, naming the lists it has been bouncing from, and telling you how to resubscribe. If you havent responded after five days, your e-mail address is removed from the mailing list.
Why cant I post messages from my juno.com account?
We have experienced numerous problems with juno.com accounts. For the time being, we have dealt with this by disabling posting ability for all juno.com users. We hope to re-enable juno.com postings in the future. [Top]
Why dont my postings go automatically to the whole list?
We believe that the choice of whether to reply privately or to the list should be left up to the author of a message. If you wish to reply to the list, use reply-to-all in your e-mail program, or add the posting address to your e-mail message. For a discussion about whether mail lists should be set up so that responses are directed to the whole list or to individual users, read the article
Reply-to Munging Considered Harmful. [Top]
