  • If your question isn't answered here, please contact us using the form below.
  • My iDisk available storage space is less than it should be

By default, the storage for your .Mac account is split evenly between your iDisk and .Mac Mail. You can adjust storage allocation on the .Mac Account Storage Settings page. You can also buy more storage by visiting the .Mac Account page and clicking "Buy More."

  • When I upload files to my iDisk, it seems to stall at the end

When you copy items from the Finder to the iDisk, you may see the dialog box appear to stall with a message stating “(Closing file…) – Please wait…” It hasn't actually stalled, it is simply not accurately representing the file transfer. The uploading of the file from your computer to your iDisk does not actually begin until the progress bar is almost completely full. If you wait a few minutes, the transfer should complete normally.

  • Also, be sure to not copy files larger than 2GB in size to your iDisk.

  • Uploads/downloads from my iDisk seem slow

If you are copying a large folder with many items, it generally is faster to first archive the folder before copying the files to your iDisk. Please note that physical location, network setup, and other factors can also affect your iDisk performance.

I'm having difficulty connecting to my iDisk using a Mac

If you are unable to access your iDisk using Mac OS X, try logging in at the .Mac website. If you are unable to log in, you may need to reset your .Mac password. If you are able to successfully log in at the .Mac website, make sure your .Mac member name and password are entered into System Preferences. If you're still experiencing connection issues, try connecting to your iDisk from a different network or Internet connection.

  • I'm having difficulty connecting to my iDisk using Windows

If you are using Windows XP, try the iDisk Utility for Windows XP. If you are unable to access your iDisk using iDisk Utility for Windows XP, or you are using Windows 2000 or Vista, try accessing your iDisk with a web browser.

  • iDisk Syncing is not working

For any iDisk Syncing issues, make sure you are using the latest version of Mac OS X (check Software Update). Turn iDisk Syncing off, restart your computer, and then make sure you can connect to your iDisk normally. More iDisk Syncing troubleshooting steps are available here.

  • I'm having difficulty using my iDisk with a web browser

When connecting to your iDisk with a web browser, do not include "@mac.com" when entering your .Mac member name. Make sure you are using the latest version of your web browser or try a different web browser (Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer 6+ are all recommended).

  • How do I share files using my iDisk Public folder?

  • You can use your Public folder to share files. Make sure those that want to connect to your iDisk have your .Mac member name and your Public folder password if needed (never share your .Mac member password).
