Displays Service: Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if my Display needs service?
Visit our Displays support site for helpful troubleshooting information. If you have reviewed the articles on the website, and you're still not sure whether your Display requires service, you can take your Display to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider (”AASP”) or Apple retail store for diagnosis.

Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).

How long is my Display covered by Apple’s warranty?
Your Display is covered by Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of original retail purchase (”date of purchase”).

How can I tell if my Display is in-warranty?
Your Display is covered by Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty for one year from its date of purchase. Apple may need to examine your proof of purchase document to verify your Display warranty status.

How much will my in-warranty service be?
Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of purchase. However, you will be responsible for all expenses incurred in transporting the Display to Apple, an AASP or Apple retail store.

How do I get my Display serviced?
Apple may provide service for your Display using one of the following options:
  1. Mail-in Service: Mail your Display to Apple for service.
  2. Carry-in Service: Take your Display to an AASP or Apple retail store near you.
How long will my Display service take?
Service times often depend on the nature of the issue and the availability of service parts at the service location. Be sure to ask how long service will take when you set up service with Apple’s technical support agents or deliver your Display for service to an AASP or the Apple Store.

What is the status of my Display service request?
For service facilitated through Apple, you can check the status of your Display service at any time by accessing our easy service status website.
Can I extend service coverage on my Display beyond the warranty?
The AppleCare Protection Plan for PowerBook and AppleCare Protection Plan for Power Mac extend hardware repair service and technical support coverage to three years from the Display's date of purchase. Power Mac and PowerBook customers may enroll one Apple display for coverage, provided that the Mac and the display are purchased together. The AppleCare Protection Plan must be purchased while the Mac and Display are covered under Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty.

My Display warranty has expired. What are my service options?
If your warranty has expired, you still have access to all available service options, but you will be responsible for the cost of service, including parts, labor, shipping (if any) and applicable taxes. AppleCare or your local AASP or Apple retail store representative will provide you with an estimate of service costs before receiving your authorization to perform service.

Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).

What kind of activities are excluded from my warranty coverage?
Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty for Display excludes coverage for damage resulting from a number of events, including accident, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications. Please review the warranty for further details. If damage is outside the scope of warranty coverage, service may still be provided through a local AASP or an Apple retail store, but all service charges will be your responsibility. In such an event, you will be asked to approve the estimated charges and accept the terms and conditions for service before authorizing the repair.

Does Apple warrant my Display service?
For Displays under Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty, Apple warrants against defects that arise from service performed for 90 days from the date of service or for the remaining period of the warranty, whichever provides longer coverage for you. For Displays not under Apple’s One-Year Limited Warranty, Apple warrants against defects that arise from service performed for 90 days from the date of service.
