With the WeMo app, you can control all of your WeMo products from anywhere on your iPhone or iPad.
Be at home even when you’re not
WeMo is a family of products that you can use to control just about anything in your home – from anywhere. Adjust the temperature on your Crock-Pot® Smart Slow Cooker when you are running late at work, make sure the kids’ TV turns off at bedtime, and light up a dark room before you walk in. WeMo is designed to make your life a whole lot easier.
Set it, forget it, and get notifications
Don’t ever worry that you left your porch light on by setting a rule to turn off at sunrise, set alerts to let you know when your dryer cycle is done so your clothes won’t get wrinkled, and have your lights and electronics deter intruders by simulating occupancy while you are lying on a beach in Hawaii.
These are just some of the things you can do with the WeMo app.
Integrate WeMo with IFTTT
With IFTTT (if this then that), you can connect your home to the web for endless possibilities. Set your sprinklers to stay off when rain is in the forecast or have the lights come on when you approach your front door. You can even have the lights flash when your favorite team scores.
If you can think of it, you can probably WeMo That.

Simple app controlled outlet

I'm using it to control an air conditioner, so I can turn it on about an hour before I get home, so it'll be nice and cool. Additional security features would be an improvement ... anyone on the same SSID with the WeMo app can control any outlet on that network. …

I'm not sure who answers the questions on these products but I can only assume they haven't bought one and are purely speculating. I'm not sure who answers the questions on these products but I can only assume they haven't bought one and are purely speculating. Let's clear up the UK 220V issue straight off. It IS 220V and works perfectly in the UK. Any mention of 110V is for the US plugs and is nothing to do with the UK plug. If you walk into an Apple Store and take a look at the bottom of the box it makes it quite clear that the plug is a 220V version.
Unfortunately Apple are using the US photos which doesn't help the confusing but trust me, it's the UK plug and will work fine.
Onto the device. It's a fairly bulky thing and very similar to the old plugs you'll have seen for turning your lights on and off when on holiday. Well this of course does exactly that but it works remotely so you can be switching your lights on and off from anywhere in the world. The other very useful feature is the ability to set times for the switch to come on and off and at set times including picking specific days. As you add more switches you just give them custom names and before you know it you've got home automation in the palm of your hands.
This really is a great device that does exactly what it says on the tin. …

They worked okay for about 9 months ( June 2014-March2015). Don't know what's happened but now they completely don't work.. They aren't detected. No suggested fixes work ( intact, you REALLY get screwed trying to fix it).
There is no customer service to call.... oh if you pay $100 they'll talk to you.
Don't waste your money. Nest needs to buy this company. Belkin is a joke as far as Wemo is concerned. …

DO NOT BUY
I have had two of these units now and both just stop connecting to the network and won't reconnect until you power cycle them. Abs I have had two of these units now and both just stop connecting to the network and won't reconnect until you power cycle them. Absolute rubbish for a remote control product. I just finished wasting hours setting a newer one up hoping they would work better now and nope, exactly the same even after the dodgy firmware update. I lost my temper and smashed the unit to pieces and will never buy anything from Belkin ever again. …
