Apple USB SuperDrive

  • Overview

    The sleek, compact USB SuperDrive.

Everything you need in an optical drive.

Whether you’re at the office or on the road, you can play and burn both CDs and DVDs with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It’s perfect when you want to watch a DVD, install software, create backup discs and more.

    Take it anywhere.

Only slightly bigger than a CD case, the Apple USB SuperDrive slips easily into your travel bag when you hit the road, and takes up little space on your desk or tray table when you’re working.

    The essence of simplicity.

You’ll never have to worry about lost cables with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It connects to your MacBook Pro with Retina display, MacBook Air, iMac or Mac mini with a single USB cable that’s built into the SuperDrive. There’s no separate power adaptor, and it works whether your Mac is plugged in or running on battery power.

I tried the Amazon Basic DVD drive, but the speed is so slow that I had to return it. The Apple USB SuperDrive doesn't have this problem, though.

      Good idea, but limited.

This is a good idea when it comes to improving the design of the MacBooks, but for the hassle and the cost, you'd think it could be blu-ray capable. Seriously. The retina display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800. I think it's time for 1080p viewability.

Although it still irks me that such a device is even necessary in this day and age. Sure improved portability is a nice feature but taking away the optical disk drive to do so seems silly. Overall no complaints, however.

This p I bought this together with the MacBook Pro without DVD drive. The first time I used, it stuck DVD disc, went to store changed to a new one, stuck again. This product cannot use track pad holding with power key to start function. It is not recognized by my old macbook pro either. How can apple sell an external DVD drive product do not compatible with its own without DVD drive Macbook pro?!

Preforms exactly as it is meant to

I use it to watch DVDs and it works like a charm. It is fast and the small size makes it easy to use on the go. I am hoping to purchase two soon- one for me and one for my sister- due to the exceptional quality. Unlike many reviews, my experience has been awesome. There have been no problems such as the disks getting stuck, loud noises, lack of functioning, or anything else of the sort. I highly recommend this product, especially to students!

      So disappointed...

Unlike many other reviewers, I asked for this drive as a gift so I could burn CDs from iTunes and make mixed CDs to listen to in my car. I put the first blank Unlike many other reviewers, I asked for this drive as a gift so I could burn CDs from iTunes and make mixed CDs to listen to in my car. I put the first blank disc in and...nothing. I heard some whirring, but that was it. I selected a playlist, and I clicked "burn playlist to disc," but...nothing. The only way I could eject the disc was to restart my MacBook Air and then hold down the mouse when the computer booted back up. There was an icon that appeared for the drive but when I clicked on "Eject," like I said before...nothing. Why hasn't this problem been fixed with all these bad reviews??
