Which Smart Cover looks best with a black iPad?

For a black iPad, do you think the dark gray or light gray Polyurethane Smart Cover looks better?

Which one goes with the aluminum backing better?

And which one gets dirtier faster?

When i had the iPad 2 i got the gray smart cover. I think you should get the dark gray because because it doesn't get dirty that fast.

  • For a black iPad, I personally think that the dark grey polyurethane Smart Cover looks better. I'd also say that the light grey gets dirtier quicker. If you have the money, then a black leather Smart Cover looks really good and hides marks really well.

  • Ipad's tab on the apple website allows you to preview the color combinations before choosing a new iPad.

  • I think this depends in part on your style (professional vs. eclectic, etc), and also how much you want to advertise your expensive gadget.

I was going for professional and low key.

I think the black cover looks the best for a low key look. It also matches well enough that looks like they're made for each other but doesn't advertise an expensive gadget to casual passers-by.

I also thought the red cover would look sharp, black and red are a classic, but more flashy.

The dark blue (Navy) also looked nice on screen.

And I'd think one of the gray covers, I think that compliments the aluminum.

I would have preferred to buy the darker colors in Polyurethane (vs. Leather). Not so much for the lower cost, but Im just not a huge fan of cow skin. But most of the darker/classier? colors are only in leather, so that's what I went with.

On final though: A female friend of mine says she likes bright pink for her gadgets as a THEFT deterrent - she figures that at least guys won't want to steal it - so half the population. And it's also easier to spot during the "get away". And, although the iPad cover is removable, a thief might not know that, so perhaps gets rid of another 20% of prospective thieves; a profession thief wouldn't be deterred by that of course. I'm told it's all about the numbers, and just not being the easiest prey in the room.

  • I recommend Dark Gray over the light Gray, but personally, I went with the black leather for the black iPad. Only because I use it for work and it has a little more professional look too it.

  • I bought the pale blue. It's lovely but does get dirty. However, baby wipes get it clean again.

  • Just my opinion but I think the leather Smart Covers are better coordinated with the black iPad. The color selection on the poly Smart Covers seem better suited for the white iPad. But if I had to get the poly, I'd go with dark gray.

  • Tan Leather - classic look with the latest cutting edge technology. I used leather oil on the cover and it's taking the wear with grace and style! Lots of comments on the "classic journal" look. Also, matches my roadster black with tan leather...
