After installing AirPort Utility from the CD included with AirPort Express, you’re just a few short steps away from creating the ultimate Wi-Fi environment. For Mac users, AirPort Utility is located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. And Windows users access AirPort Utility by selecting Start > All Programs > AirPort.

Creating a wireless network

AirPort Express makes creating a wireless network as easy as finding the closest electrical outlet.

  1. Connect your ADSL or cable modem to the Ethernet port on your AirPort Express.
  2. Open AirPort Utility, select your AirPort Express and click Continue.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to create your new network.

Setting up AirTunes

Take your iTunes library beyond your computer with AirPort Express and AirTunes.

  1. Connect your AirPort Express to your home stereo or powered speakers.
  2. Plug AirPort Express into an electrical outlet.
  3. Open AirPort Utility, select your AirPort Express and click Continue.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Open iTunes and choose your stereo or speakers from the pop-up menu in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.

Connecting a printer

Connect a printer to the AirPort Express USB port and access it remotely.

Mac OS X Windows

To print using Mac OS X v10.3 or v10.4

  1. Open Printer Setup Utility (located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder).
  2. Select the printer from the list.

To print using Mac OS X v10.5

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu and click Print & Fax.
  2. Click Add (+) and select your printer from the list.
  3. Click the Add button.
  1. Install Bonjour for Windows from the CD included with AirPort Express.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions for connecting your printer.
