    Automatic wireless backup.

AirPort Time Capsule includes a 2TB or 3TB hard drive that works with Time Machine in OS X to create the perfect no-hassle backup solution.1 There are no cables, and you can back up all the Mac computers in your home to a central location — automatically, wirelessly, and in the background.

    Ultra-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

With 802.11ac technology and a powerful beamforming antenna array, AirPort Time Capsule gives you up to 3x faster Wi-Fi and a stronger, clearer signal.2 And because it transmits at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time, your wireless devices will automatically connect to the best available band for the fastest performance possible.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-design

    Designed with performance in mind.

With the antennas at the top of the elevated design, AirPort Time Capsule now has a higher platform for dispersing the signal. We also increased the number of antennas. There are now six of them — three for the 2.4GHz band and three for the 5GHz band. Together with 802.11ac technology, they let you connect faster, farther, and with more power than ever before.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-setup

Easy setup for iOS and OS X.

Connect your DSL or cable modem to AirPort Time Capsule and use the built-in setup assistant to create your new wireless network in just a few taps from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. If you’re using a Mac, use the built-in AirPort Utility. Setup is just as fast and just as easy.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-share

Share your hard drive or printer.

AirPort Time Capsule can turn any external USB hard drive into a secure drive you can share across your Wi-Fi network. So all the documents, videos, photos and other files instantly become available to anyone, Mac and PC users alike. You can even connect a printer and share it wirelessly.

    Compatibility and security.

Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Time Capsule. That’s because it’s compatible with devices using the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n and 802.11ac specifications. And since AirPort Time Capsule features a built-in firewall that protects your network from malicious Internet attacks, you can enjoy the web with peace of mind.

By the time I got it home and out of the box, set my Virgin Media Super Hub to Modem Mode, plugged in the AirPort Time Capsule, downloaded the latest firmware via the AirPort Utility App on my iPhone, I was done in 10 mins. It was so simple to set up and I've noticed a performance boost for all my wifi connected devices now. Time Machine is set up on my Mac, and backing up seamlessly in the background. The build quality is superb, as to be expected from Apple.

Intermittent shutdown problems...Latest version has engineering problems!

I have had Apple routers and Time capsules for many years and until recently the experience has been mostly good. However, that said, I am very disappointed wit I have had Apple routers and Time capsules for many years and until recently the experience has been mostly good. However, that said, I am very disappointed with the performance of my second 3TB TC purchased in late 2014. I have had to return and exchange it twice now and am currently "testing" the third unit. It would appear there is a serious hardware or firmware problem that leads the device to power down intermittantly. It can power down once or twice a day sometimes, or may go for a week or more just fine then quite. The only way to reset it is unplug and replug the power cable and it sputters back to life. The sign of failure, apart from the obvious is the LED light goes off (while still plugged in). Apple have been pretty good and quick about providing a new unit. I am surprised though they cannot seem to read or access the TC diagnostics on board which supposedly get sent back to the mother ship also? Looking into the logs it is, and should be possible for the techs to see if thermal or other factors tripped the unit OFF. Oh well..I'll continue testing #3 and hope for the best this time. I think its most likely the latest engineering version thats at fault. Its worth noting my original 3TB TC purchased in 2010-2011 works just fine and has never given any problems.

It's cheap too. It works by connecting your router to your home electrical circuit via an ethernet cable and a 13amp plug through an adaptor. All the major router brands make the adapters. You can also use powerline adapters to run an ethernet cable directly from the mains plug socket via an adapter into your sky box or whatever freeing you to place your router wherever you want it. This upgrade to the Time Capsule is well worth it. It is so much faster and the 3GB is a welcome upgrade to our old 1GB capsule.

      Reboot and overheating errors.

DIscovered the indicator on the front was Yellow all of the time. Used the Airport app on my Mac to find out it was overheating all of the time and forcing near constant reboots. This unit was not running in a hot or closed location. I called for support and the rep asked what I did to break the unit because no one ever has problems with it. He then told me that my problem was customer created and I did 't qualify for support!!! Between this and my $300 beats wireless headphones breaking maybe buying 'Apple' products isn't such a good idea anymore...

      Almost excellent

The only complaints from me is the USB 2.0 speed and the non Apple support to access the time capsule from iOS devices. Wifi speed is very fast and you can add visitors network too. 5ghz also works fine with a long coverage too. I always used all the time capsule products with belkin power outlet to ensure damage free from electricity network. You can buy this with confidence, and I hope the discontinued rumors will be just rumors. I add 4 stars for missing options I mention above.
